Darling Doilies

Some old-fashioned objects can still be used today.

Some of these are doilies.

They are definitely little works of art.

In any Victorian photo, one can spot doilies, usually hung on the back of a comfy parlor chair.

Many people in modern society think doilies are duds and wouldn't use them in their homes for all the tea in China.

Not around here. I love doilies. When seeing how intricate and pretty their patterns are, I cannot help but think of how much time and work went into making them.

At the church yard sale mentioned a couple times recently in this blog, I found four truly beautiful doilies.

They were thumb tacked to a wall. A little sign nearby noted, "Doilies. 25 cents each."

I bought four of them but regret not buying all!

DO YOU LIKE DOILIES? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Susan, as I'm writing this, my coffee is sitting on a pink doily that looks just like the first one you have shown here. My grandmother made it, and it's one of the only things I have of hers. Wow, I can't believe these doilies were only 25 cents each. If you look at all the precious detail in a doily, it's worth more than we can imagine. The pink one you got is so pretty and dainty. So glad to know another doily lover. : )

I do like dollies Susan - it makes me remember my grandmother. They worked so hard of them and it is sad that they are a lost art. sandie

I knew a woman who could whip one of these out in a day. I love doilies, too.

I have a few of them from a long time ago. Maybe they were made by Grandma but can't remember. They are so pretty. Love doilies.
