Fourth of July Parade

What could be more patriotic than a Happy Birthday parade for America on the Fourth of July?

For two-and-a-half hours on Independence Day, we watched floats, fife and drum corps, marching bands, clowns, fire engine and police representatives, politicians, and more grace the main street in a western New England town.

It was a brief, but welcome, respite from the current injustices and woes of this great  country.

Latina dancers were wonderfully colorful, graceful, and extra special.

The drums and trumpets always make my heart jump up and down as they go by.

Never does a Fourth of July parade fail to make tears well up in my eyes and gratitude fill  my heart.

WHAT, IF ANYTHING, DO YOU LIKE ABOUT PARADES?

I used to march in Parades myself when I was a teenager in the band so those are the favorite things I love in a parade. We have a huge one in Huntington Beach here on the west coast but I watch that from the comfort of my living room.

What a fun and festive celebration, Susan. I haven't seen a town parade in a long time. Sounds so entertaining. I love that second picture, it's fantastic! And the smiling sun just made me smile. : ) Glad you got to go to this, it looks awesome!

Yay for parades. When my daughter was four she jumped up off the curb and joined the marchers. LOL

WOW! Susan. I truly enjoyed your parade pictures. But, the way you described it was like looking at your pictures in my imagination. I loved it! Thank you for sharing this fun festive activity. I worked and didn't see much fireworks this fourth of July. Although, after coming home from work and stepping out of my car, I about jumped out of my skin from hearing one of those rocket launcher fireworks. I haven't seen a parade in years. Thank you, again, for sharing.
