Apple Picking in the Orchard

A bag, filled to the brim with apples, awaits attention in a corner of the kitchen.

This batch of the delicious, sweet globes will probably be made into applesauce.

We went picking last Sunday.

The orchard was nicely maintained and there were literally hundreds of trees, filled with red apples, just waiting to be plucked.

Apple picking is a perfect activity for small children, too.

It's nice to get them out into the fresh air to see, firsthand, the bountiful gifts of  Mother Nature.

DO YOU GO APPLE-PICKING?  DO YOU MAKE APPLESAUCE?  APPLE PIE?  TELL US, PLEASE!

Okay we went last weekend - without the kids - it was nice- but I did miss the kids. We have done it for years. It is a wonderful tradition. I don't make applesauce (yuck) but I do eat apples.

We don't have apple orchards in our area. But I've been apple picking in Montreal one fall while visiting family. It was a neat thing to be out in the seasonal air and picking our own fruit. We didn't buy lots that day.

Enjoyed your photos, Susan. Hope you have a good day.

We have a great apple place but the drive is very far for me so I haven't gone in years. I love green apples the best....like Granny Smith. I love anything made with apple especially apple pie.

Oh, the apple orchards are wonderful, Susan. I will be going to my favorite one soon with the family. The apples looks so red and juicy, and it will be nice when you make applesauce here soon. I love apple treats in the Fall. Have you ever tried making apple crisp? My son makes it sometimes and it's really Yummy. And there's always caramel apples. ; )

I don't go picking anymore but I did run to my grocery store for my favorite Mac apples. I just eat them with cheese and crackers. Glad you had a good time! 🍎 Kit

Susan, just wanted to tell you that Yes, So Cal gets all the seasons, but not as vividly as the north. We lived in So Cal one time in our lives, and we got the rain and the wind and the sun, but there's just nothing like Autumns here in Nor Cal. It comes early and it's so pretty. It's a big decision, so please pray for guidance for me. Thank you so much, dear friend. : )

I have never picked apples or made applesauce or apple pie. What a sheltered life I've read. But I bet I could write a poem about apples. The apples in your pictures look yummy.
I found your blog from others that I follow. I will follow you with a smile as you have hoped.
I invite you to visit my blog and smile at my apple poem...yet to be written.

I'd have to go to Jordan to pick apples. :) I do love a good fresh from the oven hot apple pie. Yum!

When I was growing up we had apple trees in our backyard and I dreaded picking them. When my children were young we used to have an apple picking outing every year and I loved it. Things change. xo Laura
