Finding Old Treasures

It has been said that moving is one of the most stressful experiences one can have in life.

Having just moved from a large house to an apartment, with a lot more downsizing to go, I'll be the first person to agree with that statement.

It has been months of stress, too, with packing, purging, negotiations, and on and on.

However, if I strive to keep an optimistic mindset, and concentrate on the positive aspects of the move, the stress is less.

Unpacking boxes and plastic bins makes it seem a little bit like Christmas.

One comes across things that have been put away for a time and are now back.

For instance, two very favorite gold-tone birds surfaced.

They were gifts a couple of years ago, from my friend, Jana, who lives in Georgia.

Those birdies were love at first sight.

That was a great gift from my longtime friend.

Now the birdies are on either side of a pink cranberry glass lamp, on a table, near the living room windows.

One bird seems to be peeking out through the glass to see what's going on in the world.

A favorite crystal cross is on a windowsill and when the late afternoon sun hits it, dozens of mini rainbows flash onto the ceiling and walls.

Oh yes, and a box full of cloth hearts surfaced, too.

One is near the base of the lamp.

The letters on its front remind us of a very important message....love.

HOW DO YOU TURN A STRESSFUL SITUATION INTO SOMETHING POSITIVE?

Glad to hear you saved some of your favorite things to bring you joy in your new surroundings. If I am stressed I play the piano and sing. It always cheers me up.

I remember unpacking boxes, and that was the funnest part about moving, which can be very stressful, like you said. Those gold birds are so pretty, Susan. Glad you found them tucked away. I've always loved that cranberry lamp too. The base looks like milk glass. Thank you for the gentle reminder this morning to.....love.

I think you're doing great with the move. Finding little things that make you happy, and appreciating the blessings that come to you. : )

Have a happy October week, Susan.
