Look for the Good Things

A very dear friend of mine, Rosie, who is older than me, always lifts my spirit.

She is upbeat----positive---- constantly looking on the bright side and honestly, it is wonderful to be with someone like Rosie.

Her life journey has not been pain free either.

She's suffered a lot and come through some soul-crushing disappointments.

But she never concentrates on the difficult times, past or present.

Also, her faith in God and positive outcomes is strong.

From this dear soul, I've learned to appreciate every breath that is taken because each one is a gift.

Each new day of life, too, is given to us to enjoy, to cherish, and to enjoy.

My friend and I had a long phone conversation recently.

"Getting older is hard," I told her and Rosie agreed.

There are health challenges galore, deep disappointments, bills that come in like Niagara Falls, loneliness, stomach aches, headaches, and on and on.

Getting older brings lots of  challenges and difficulties, including arthritis in different parts of the body, hip pains, feet difficulties, knee discomfort, sleep disturbances, and many more difficulties.

All of those maladies prove something great and that is, we are alive!

So yes, rather than concentrate on the negatives, we need to try to appreciate everything around in nature like flowers, fresh breezes, rain, the sun, stars, and the moon, gorgeous trees that jut up to the skies, and changing seasons.

Life, despite all the setbacks, pains, and discouragements, is pretty darned precious.

Photos in this post are things available to see every single day.

Each one can be appreciated and savored.

PLEASE TELL US HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT GETTING OLDER.

There are a wealth of natural, herb, vitamin and food based remedies that do wonders ror age related issues. God has provided these remedies in nature, they are a great addition to conventional medicine.

It is no wonder why you are one of my dearest blog friends. We both know the pains of getting older, but we choose to be thankful for the big things and the small things that come our way every day. To answer your question..... I thought about getting one more year older this year, and realized that both my dad and brother died before my age, and was thankful to still be here, loving, and sharing special times with those that mean the most to me. Rosie sounds like a wonderful friend. Yes, having faith makes all the difference in the world. I'm trying to embrace the changing seasons, as you said, but summer just isn't my favorite; the heat knocks me out haha. And I have to tell you, Susan, that photo with the clouds and scenery is beautiful. I wish you could somehow frame it. Thanks for the gentle reminder to appreciate this thing called "aging." : )

As an Analytical thinker it’s always been natural for me to break down complex problems, like aging into smaller, more manageable components. As if my finite mind can put our mortality in a box! How arrogant of myself! Best I can do is just accept that my earthly body is slowly on the decline. I can fight it and get no where or I can try and embrace the process as gracefully as I can and be at peace. My inner peace is paramount to my mental and spiritual health so I try with the Holy Spirit’s guidance to stay close to God and keep my eye on that ultimate prize.

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

Getting older is a privilege that many people do not get. I am thankful each day to wake up and be here breathing and ready to face the challenges that old age brings. My faith helps me concentrate on the good things given to me and I do not dwell on the negative. I'm grateful for everything God has given me.
