God Winks Give Hope to the World

There are days when we feel like giving up.

You have had those kinds of days, right?

So many things have gone wrong. 

 A medical diagnosis of ourselves or someone we love,  has sent what feels like sharp machetes through our hearts.

Wars and destruction, children suffering, and on and on. Sometimes it is just too much to digest, let alone live with.

One thing we can do amid the chaos of the world is to actively seek the presence of God winks.

Those are little happy things that happen right in the middle of the storms of life.

A special phone call, a visit from someone we love, the appearance in our lives of something we have been yearning for, feeling better after a devastating flu, buying a special treat after a major hit, and on and on.

You get the idea.  We look for the good things happening amid the wretchedness.

Yesterday, my daughter found two dining room chairs that I have been yearning for, in order to replace two folding chairs. 

Not only did she find them online, she drove to the place where they were being sold, and then delivered them to my apartment.

There they were at the table when I came home and opened the door.

Now that is an example of something wonderful happening and an unexpected God wink.

Her kindness in buying those chairs for me just about overwhelmed me. It's been a couple weeks of car repairs, sickness of family members, and hits of all kinds from every direction.

Looking at the chairs makes me realize that God truly is close to the broken-hearted.
