A Special Gift

Giving gifts to special people in our lives is a great source of  happiness.

So is receiving them.

This past week, a very special gift came and it was ordered by me!

For me!

Have you ever done that?  Bought a gift for just yourself?

Well, here's how it happened.

I looked at my old, ugly pepper shaker and its non-matching smaller in size salt shaker and shook my head.

They looked awful.

It's been that way for a long time since moving several times the past five years jumbled everything up.

It was definitely time for a matching set of salt and pepper shakers.

Perusing Goodwill thrift shops turned up zero. Nada. Nothing.

But on ebay, there happened to be a set of glass/crystal shakers that looked absolutely gorgeous.

They had pedestal bottoms and were just my style.

So I ordered them from an awesome seller in the midwest.

A box came extremely quickly----only four days.

The seller had  packed the shakers very carefully.

While lifting each shaker from its wrapper, sheer excitement punctured the air.

As much as we are not really supposed to get too hepped up about material things, this set of pepper and salt shakers really makes me happy.

In the general scheme of things, that gift to me isn't really much but it means a lot to me.

Bye bye mismatched salt and pepper shakers.

It's time for them to move on!

WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU BOUGHT YOURSELF A GIFT?

A Special Gift...

Sometimes in life, we all need to lift our own spirits.

It's called self-love and it's important in order to live quality lives.

Valentine's Day is coming up.

For those who have lost a loved one, or have no one special to love, the need to be kind to one's self is even stronger.

Everyone needs some self-love, once in awhile.

In the supermarket, one of a very favorite flowering plant, hyacinth, looked absolutely lush in the flower department.

(This lovely heart decoration is near the beautiful hyacinth, creating a heartfelt combination.)

On display were even pink ones and pink is an absolute favorite color.

Placing the flowering hyacinth in the shopping cart brought immediate happiness.

The flourishing beauty sat on the table near the bed.

The fragrance wafting in the air brought immediate smiles.

During the day, pink hyacinth comes back to the living room to perfume the air and bring peace and love to the heart.

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO TO GIVE SELF-LOVE?

A Special Gift...

A high school acquaintance recently gave me a pink china piece that has a top.

She knows I like pastel pink and picked it up at an estate sale.

It's very pretty and I decided it could be used on top of my bedroom dresser for spare change found in clothing pockets, etc.

So far, its contents are quite sparse.

But hey, little drops fill not only the bucket, but china containers as well, right?

WHAT KIND OF CONTAINER DO YOU USE AT HOME TO COLLECT SPARE CHANGE?
