Several years ago, while visiting Flagstaff, Arizona, my daughter and I stopped at a Salvation Army store . A pair of amber glass lamps with fluted edges and "gold" ornate bases were for sale. Admiring them for their beauty, my daughter urged me to buy them.
They are perfect for your Victorian decor," she said. The logistics of transporting such delicate lamps cross-country, however, seemed impossible. Reluctantly, I left the store.
Several weeks later, back on the east coast, the UPS man delivered a large box that contained the lamps! My daughter had bought them and sent them to me after all despite being a college student on a bare bones budget. Today the lamps adorn one of our bedrooms on the east coast. Every time I look at them, especially with the sun shining through them, they make me smile. Reminisent of the old west days, they also symbolize, to me, a gift of love.
CAN YOU THINK OF A GIFT OF LOVE YOU HAVE RECEIVED?
