Hello! Welcome! Today we are joining Show and Tell Friday on Cindy's sweet blog,
My Romantic Home. http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ Stop by her blog. You'll be in for a real treat in seeting so many fabulous posts from around the USA and other countries, too!
The first time I read about surrounding one's self with beautiful objects at home was in a book, "Living a Beautiful Life," by one of my absolutely favorite authors, Alexandra Stoddard.
She's also an interior designer. Sitting on the shelves of my home library are probably more than 20 of her books. They provide good reading and, to me, are inspirational.
I've actually written several posts about cranberry glass. You can read about one here: http://writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2010/04/collectible-cranberry-glass-for-cindys.html
Another one, if you are interested, can be found here: http://writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2011/06/cranberry-glass-life-through-rose.html
If you are not totally cranberried out, there's another one here! http://writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2010/09/cranberry-glass-birthday-surprise.html
My mother started buying me pieces of cranberry glass for birthdays and other special occasions. It tends to be very expensive. I had two small children when the collection began and couldn't afford it.
All through the years, the collection has grown. My mother died six years ago today (February 17) and of course, I still miss her with a deep ache in my heart.
But I can look at cranberry glass in our home and feel a sense of peace and happiness. Seeing my cranberry glass collection makes me think of how my Mom wanted to make me happy with each new piece. God bless her sweet heart.
For quite a spell now, I 've wanted to put glass shelves on a big window in our living room. It hasn't happened.
So rather than keep all the pieces on library shelves, I decided to line the fireplace mantel, the top of the television cabinet, and the windowsills in the living room!
Alexandra was right, of course. Our homes become our havens of happiness where we can relax and feel peaceful, surrounded by things we enjoy. Glancing around our living room, and the lovely pink cranberry glass, I cannot help but think that Mummy would approve.
WHAT IS ONE THING IN YOUR HOME THAT MAKES YOU THINK OF YOUR MOM?
