Downsizing Dilemma

Everyone has their favorite items when it comes to decorating.

Pink is my favorite color so it's quite predominant in my home's decor.

Anything sparkly also attracts me, just like a crow to shiny things.

Years ago, a two tier wrought iron rack caught my attention.

Yes, it was in a thrift store and cheap but I didn't care.

 It was attractive to me.

I brought it home and quickly spray-painted it white.

Then, faux roses, in various shades of pink,  were gently placed on the two glass, round shelves.

Eventually, two gorgeous birds with feathery tails and long shiny pink extensions joined the rack.

It has always been one of my favorite decorations.

So when it ended up in my own yard sale, this past weekend, a wave of nostalgia and sadness washed over me.

When friends and sisters who were helping with the sale weren't looking, I grabbed my wrought iron, two-tiered centerpiece, pink roses, birds, and all, and absconded to the back porch.

There the centerpiece sat until I was able to carefully sneak it back into my house, where it now sits royally, once again, in the middle of the kitchen table.

Some things a person just cannot part with!

WHAT IS SOMETHING IN YOUR OWN SPACE YOU WOULD KEEP FOREVER, IF YOU COULD?

Downsizing Dilemma

Remember our brothers and sisters in the Ukraine and those who left, in the midst of an unbelievably horrendous war.

Those of you who pray, think of them in this time of immense suffering.

Every time the thought of downsizing comes to mind, it turns out to be disastrous.

Well, not really a huge disaster but a mini one that doesn't seem to have much of a momentary solution.

For instance, a quick survey of my home office, that is filled with all kinds of files, papers, and loved objects, makes eliminating things almost impossible.

For instance, the Indonesian cat collection is colorful and whimsical.

How could I ever part with such sweet felines?

For whatever reason, the fancy lady in black, shown at the top of this post, spoke to me years ago and she's hung on the office wall ever since.  Nope. Don't want to say goodbye to her just yet.

The angel plaque is so adorable!

How could that ever be passed upon and just, well, given away?

 I need those angels.

The Central American mini-painting makes me think of the time my "forever love" and I lived in Central America.  The painting stays.

One of my late sisters-in-law, Carmen, passed along a lovely rose plaque many years ago.  I loved her as well as roses.  How could I ever part with that?

On and on goes the scenario.

This little angel, in memory of my late husband, and the tiny stone in front of it, touches my heart whenever I pass by the bookcase it's set upon.

Time to think of doing something else besides packing objects.  Downsizing has to be done some other day.

IS IT HARD FOR YOU TO THROW OUT OBJECTS YOU LOVE?
