Victorian Bedroom Suite Upstairs at the Bryant House Restaurant in Vermont

A day trip to the Orton family's Vermont Country Store in Weston, Vermont, is always fun. 

A visitor can add even more delight by having a meal at the Bryant House Restaurant, conveniently located right next door to the country store.

Located upstairs in the restaurant is a Victorian bedroom set that guests can go up to look at!

The eating establishment is actually located in a former home that was built for the Bryant family in 1827! 

The whole story of the restaurant, store and so on can be found in the menu given when ordering a meal.

 According to the write-up, the last members of the Bryant family, John and Maude, were friends of the Orton family.

The menu also states that a bedroom set originally purchased by John Bryant's aunt and uncle in 1876, at the World's Fair in Philadelphia, can be seen upstairs in the building.  

 John inherited the set which is made of hand-carved mahogany and Circassian walnut. 

It's a set of true Victorian magnificence!

When the aunt and uncle bought it in 1876 from a Michigan furniture maker at the fair they paid $900, according to information printed on the menu.

Right after we finished our thick, creamy and delicious New England clam chowder, salads, Bryant House johnnycakes and coffee, we climbed the steep stairs to the second floor to take a look.

The room where the bedroom set is located is at the far end of this hallway to the left:

The set is quite breathtaking. The pieces are huge and reach up almost to the ceiling!

 I told my husband it was worth the trip to Vermont just to get a glimpse of this bedroom!
