Post for Sunday, August 8, 2010: A Spiritual Day Trip to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy

A friend who is writing a book about her guardian angels asked if I would accompany her on a visit to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy  and Marian Helpers Center on Eden Hill in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

The religious Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception are, obviously, dedicated to the Mother of God. People from all over the world come to visit this holy place.  Stanislaus Papczynski (1631-1701) founded the Marians and his statue can be found on the grounds.

The Shrine is located in  a peaceful setting, surrounded by lush forests, paths to religious grottos, and acres of rolling, green grass.  Roman Catholics attend Mass here and often walk the beautiful grounds in silence to pray.

A long path through the woods leads to a grotto similar to Lourdes in France where the Blessed Mother appeared to children.

There is a small pool with sweet little angels at each corner and fountains where one can sit and reflect.  Quiet is everywhere on Eden Hill.

Sunshine and gentle breezes blessed us the day we visited, and there was not a single drop of rain,  yet in the sky above Eden Hill everyone looked up to see a rainbow!

A visit to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy can be inspiring and life-changing. In a day and age often filled with conflict , discord, and difficulty, it's nice to know there's a place where peace prevails.

HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF THE DIVINE MERCY?
