New Duds for Tiny Tears

A few years back, my daughter gave me the best Christmas present ever.

It was a replica of my beloved childhood doll, Tiny Tears.

That original baby doll, who I named Michele, was my companion for many, many years throughout my childhood.

I had no idea what ever happened to her. However, my daughter found an exact copy of the doll, bought it, and gave it to me for Christmas.

This year, a sister across the country, bought a new outfit for the doll as my Christmas gift.

Because I'm in the middle of housing transition, the outfit was sent to the wrong address and we kind of assumed it'd be forever lost.

A package came to me in the mail, wrong address and all, so there was no recourse but to open it way before Christmas and see what it was.

It was Michele's new dress and lace-edged bonnet.  Perfect!

So I got to open the very first Christmas gift and loved it!

New Duds for Tiny Tears

My late godparents gave me the gift of a Tiny Tears doll when I was about six years old.

As I've blogged here before, my daughter searched and found an exact replica of my beloved Michele.

She was like a gift dropped down from heaven since we had spent so many hundreds of hours together when I was a little child.

To say I was thrilled to see a duplicate Tiny Tears doll is an understatement.

She had a chubby little face and close-cropped dark hair.

Now, every time I hit a Goodwill thrift shop, it's impossible to refrain from going to the infants racks where darling little outfits can be found.

Just take a look at Michele's new tiny pink rosebud dress.

Isn't it adorable?
