It's true that the ending of one year and the start of another puts most of us in very pensive moods.
It makes me want to write down what things I would most like to see come to fruition in 2014.
As the year ebbs to an end, I also yearn to start taking down Christmas decor.
The happy, twinkling decorations will soon be packed away.
Instead of jam-packed surfaces, I like to see empty spaces.

Polished wood and bareness on counter and dresser tops make me happy the first month of the new year.
As holiday decor is packed away and hauled up into the attic, I cannot help but feel a bit nostalgic.
Thoughts of what might happen in the new year, not always good, usually cross my mind.
That's when I have to swing into concentrating on the moment at hand. After all, that's all we've got.
