Peace, Pul-eese

Peace.

For most of my life, peace has eluded me.

So much of life is full of frantic activity, problems, and seeking solutions to them, appointments, difficulties, and so on.

It's challenging to find peace amid the chaos and busyness of life.

One of the advantages of getting older is seeking and then finding peace.

If a telemarketer calls early in the morning, even before we have had a chance to drink coffee, such a call can be an opportunity to find peace.

"Oh, thanks, I don't discuss that over the telephone.  Have a nice day and thanks for calling."  Then, hang up.

Years ago, that would be something I'd never dream of doing but I do it now.

Everyone deserves to have the gift of peace in their lives.

Time goes by so quickly so no one really should have to wait until late in life to find peace.

It is there, in our own hearts.

We are the masters of our destinies.

We have the right to say, "No thanks, I need to be peaceful."

Amen.

Peace

(Small angel stained glass piece in a dining room window)

The older one gets, the greater the desire for peace.

Peace in our lives, in our thoughts, in our actions, with our children, with our other family members, with our friends, with God, and in our hearts.

Peace is such an incredible gift to have but it has to be practiced and nurtured.

Today, I wish you peace.

Peace

Sometimes the quest for peace must be fierce.

Being in the middle of a huge move is anything but peaceful.

It's chaotic, frustrating, and exceedingly overwhelming.

So looking for peace in the midst of it has been challenging beyond belief.

It's hard to envision things stabilizing when one is drowning among plastic bins, random lamps, tables, bookshelves, files, and endless boxes.

Yet, if I make myself stop and just sit, even for a few seconds, it helps because I've come far enough in life to know that "This, too, shall pass."

My three little pink angels stained glass hanging made the cut and is coming to the apartment with me.

The angels are also shown at night, against the soon-to-be disconnected backyard lights.

HOW DO YOU SEEK PEACE IN THE MIDDLE OF A WILD STORM?

Deep Peace, My Friend

(Kitchen window sill setting in the sun.)

Today, I wish you deep peace.

In these very disconcerting, uncertain, and kind of scary times, peace is a precious gift.

It helps us breathe better, feel better, and live better.

No matter what is happening around us, if peace is in our hearts, all is okay.

Of course, peace that humans give is different from the peace given by God.

His is all-encompassing and  never ending.

That's the kind wished for you today.

HOW DO YOU FEEL WHEN YOU ARE TOTALLY AT PEACE?

Peace

It is always a good goal to remain peaceful.

Sometimes the world in which we live is anything but peaceful so we have to maintain it within ourselves.

It has been said that every generation thinks the times in which they are living are the worst ever.

Admittedly, there have been times when I could not help but cry over the kind of world in which we are sending our grandchildren.

So it's important to remember that "This, too, shall pass."

Discord, rampant gun violence, divisiveness in our beloved country, hatred of others because of their race, and on and on---all of these can cause great sorrow.

Still, it is possible to remain peaceful within our hearts, knowing that someone far more powerful than ourselves will have the last say on everything.

With that thought in mind, peace comes.

HOW DO YOU, PERSONALLY,  FIND PEACE, GIVEN ALL THE DISTURBING THINGS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD?

Today? Peace

Today?

Peace to you and to all your loved ones!

As many of us bask in the messages of Pope Francis, the special visitor to the United States and other places around the world, our hearts can be truly at peace.

One of Life's Greatest Gifts

Peace.

The feeling of peace, deep within the soul, is one of the best gifts we can give to ourselves at any time of the year.

It’s nothing we can find in the stores during sales. It cannot be ordered online or at warehouse businesses. Its price, however, is worth more than millions.

When people try to pull us onto their side of an argument, into simmering conflict, vie for peace. Stay out of the fray. Avoid the firing lines and walk away. Let the squabblers squabble all they want but avoid arguing, in the name of peace.

As the years pass, peace has become more and more important. It’s imperative not to let anything disturb peace for very long.

We have no control over certain situations in our lives. We have no control over people, places, or things happening in our lives or in anyone else’s life. We do, however, have control over one person....ourselves.

While we cannot possibly control what is happening to us, we can control how we respond. Our actions, decisions, and thoughts remain in our personal control.

No one can take away our serenity or our peace unless we let them.

Peace can be ours even if the world around us is spinning out of control. It is precious. It must be guarded and treasured for the priceless gift that it is.

Seek peace.
