Penguins at the New England Aquarium in Boston

Did you know that penguins have good hearing both under and above water?

Were you aware their ears are hidden underneath their feathers?

These facts are revealed at the New England Aquarium's current exhibit, "Penguinology: Explore the Secret World of Penguins."

The entire exhibit is very educational and quite fascinating to observe.

It's so amazing to see the unique creatures on rocks in the exhibit or swimming at high speed under the surrounding water.

Penguins at the aquarium have hardy appetites and daily gobble down 40 pounds of anchovies, capelin, herring, sardines and smelt, according to the aquarium's website.

It's also noted that they "poop a lot."

The website notes that " Aquarium staff and volunteers spend hours every day scrubbing poop, feathers and other detritus off the rock islands in the exhibit."

Now that would be quite a volunteering experience.

I've been interested in penguins ever since seeing the documentary "March of the Penguins."

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN PENGUINS IN PERSON? WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THEM?
