Today, We Weep
Today, we weep.
We weep for the little ones, the innocents, who will never have the chance to grow up.
We weep for their parents whose hearts are broken.
We weep because those parents will never again hear the laughter of their children in this life or see them open up this year's holiday presents.
The darlings they held in their arms, nurtured, loved, kissed, read to, dreamed for and cherished are gone forever from this earth.
We weep for the educators whose lives ended in such violence while protecting the little charges in their care.
We weep for the brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, neighbors and friends whose tears flow like rivers while Christmas lights twinkle in the darkness.
We weep for the workers left to view, investigate and clean the carnage.
We weep for the 20 little ones and eight adults and, like President Obama said, our hearts are broken.
Tragic.
Unfathomable.
Shocking.
Sickening.
Sorrow-filled beyond belief.
Today, 20 little ones became angels in another realm of life.
Today, they will be safe from guns and violence.
Today, they will be loved and protected by their Heavenly Father, held in His loving arms, forevermore.
For the rest of us, today we weep.
