Simple Pleasure: Toothpaste for the Pearly Whites

Every Thursday, Dayle, in Texas, hosts Simple Pleasures at her blog, A Collection of This and That.

It is a series of posts that was created by Dayle to remind people "to stop, to look, to listen, to slow down and pay closer attention to the simple things in life."

Here's Writing Straight from the Heart's simple pleasure for this week:

It might seem silly to consider toothpaste a simple pleasure but when you think about it, it really is.

Imagine brushing your teeth without it. Once, when we ran out of toothpaste, I made a paste out of baking soda and used that. In one word, it was "YUK."  My mouth didn't feel a bit fresh after that brushing.

Most people have their own favorite brand of toothpaste.  Throughout the years, I've certainly tried my share of different brands and always come back to good old "regular" Colgate.

By the way, I'm not pushing a product or working behind the scenes for Colgate. It's just that I prefer Colgate over any other brand. It tastes good and does a good job of cleaning teeth.

Have you ever looked at all the brands of toothpaste available in a supermarket?  Holy smokes, a person could get dizzy looking at all the boxes and styles of paste. There's paste with fluoride, paste to make your teeth whiter, paste for sensitive teeth, paste to help your gums, and on and on. It's quite mind-boggling.

Most of us, I think, take toothpaste for granted.  In many Third World countries, however, people don't have access to toothpaste.  Think about that the next time you are squeezing toothpaste onto your brush.

Now that this week's simple pleasure has been shared, think I'll go brush my teeth (with Colgate).

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE BRAND OF TOOTHPASTE?
