I'm not ready for autumn. Summer, pul-eese, don't go away.
When I see displays of Halloween witches, masks, and pumpkins, I want to beat them up! Scarecrows? Send them out to the field. I don't want to look at them yet.
It's too early to say bye bye to sweet summer. No way do I want to pack the sandals away and give up wearing white capri's.
What about sweet corn-on-the-cob, fresh from the field and dripping with butter? Who wants to trade it in for tough winter horse corn?
It's so wonderful to have light filling the evenings. Noooooooo. I don't want it to start getting dark at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
(PUMPKIN...GO AWAY):
I love the smell of hamburgers and hot dogs sizzling on a neighbor's grill and the splash of children as they cool off in a nearby above ground pool.
Oh no! Driving home from the supermarket the other day, I saw that the tips of some of the trees have already started to turn orange. Stop! Halt the coming of autumn because then, you know what's coming,
W-I-N-T-E-R.
See this window to the right? That was a bedroom window last winter. Cozy, huh?
Okay. I'll start getting ready, little by little, and very reluctantly. Bought a Village air freshener in an apple cider scent and it fills my car with a really delicious autumn scent. Yeah. Autumn.
Pretty soon, as the leaves change color and drop, one by one to the ground, it will be sweet surrender.
NOW TELL THE TRUTH: ARE YOU READY FOR AUTUMN?
