Dream Week Comes to a Close---Post for Saturday, November 6, 2010

Hello dear Blogger friends! Wow, it's been quite a week.

See the clouds in today's post?  That's where I spent the entire day on Friday.  What a thrill it was to fly above a sea of fluffy white mounds!

The object jutting out in a couple of the photos was part of a smaller plane's propeller!  My seat on that flight turned out to be right next to it.

Last Thursday, my husband and I headed for the southwest to attend our son's wedding.  Since we have very dear friends there, after the Big Event, we decided to stay in the desert for a few extra days.

There is no way I can adequately express what a fabulous week we had. The wedding was something out of a dream (I'll post more about it soon).  Then, after the bride and groom departed, we spent delightful days with those beloved old friends.
One glitch of the dream trip was finding out there was no wireless service  where we stayed so I had to post daily on unfamiliar computers. That was a real challenge for a non-techie, especially being kind of exhausted from all the hoop la.

The other glitch was that by the touch of an unknown button on my digital camera, I lost more than 50 really great photos of places we traveled to during the week.  Cry? Oh yeah, I definitely could cry over that, since many of those photos were going to accompany future posts. But what can I do?  Not a blessed thing but accept and adapt.

So now I have the tasks of  unpacking, washing clothes,  and having life return to some semblance of normal.  It will be blessed sleeping in my own bed and letting all the thoughts of this eventful, emotion-packed week swirl around in my head like sugarplums.

Without a shard of doubt, I've missed reading blogs during the whirlwind of activities and hope to catch-up as soon as I get some badly needed sleep.

Changing planes three times, hauling heavy luggage, (traveling light is something I've never learned to do),  speed walking to airport terminals that seemed like they were on the other end of the earth, and squeezing into airline seats better suited to skinny midgets than a hefty middle aged mama (me), all have taken their toll. Right now, I'm frazzled, exhausted, but very happy.

Hope you have all had a great week, too.

HOW DO YOU ADJUST TO NORMAL LIFE AFTER A TRIP? AN ADULT CHILD'S WEDDING? A VERY LONG AIRPLANE RIDE?

I like to fly...always have...although these days it is not as much fun as in the "olden" days. I flew to Virginia from California awile ago and it was a very long flight with two changes (to save money) and I was very exhausted coming home. I was going to travel again for Christmas but I'm thinking it will be much more relaxing to stay HOME....glad you had a great week Susan.

Flying is certainly not as enjoyable as it used to be. Overseas flights can be hell. But even domestic flights don't provide the personal services they used to. No doubt you are frazzled after all the waiting and changing of planes. Good luck getting caught up on everything at home. Our home computer died and I have no idea what pictures were on there but nothing can be done about it, so I feel for you on the lost pictures. No sense in getting uptight about the things we can't do anything about. Take care! xxx Tammy

Susan, welcome home! And congratulations to your son and daughter-in-law.

So sorry about your camera glitch. I know the feeling of losing photos like that, and it takes awhile to recover (or it did me).

As for recovvering from long trips, well, until retirement (and the purchase of Cloud Nine), I must say I was a very poor traveler. Whether in a car, or on a plane, I did more than my share of complaining. I have a bad back, bad knees, you name it and it hurt being cramped into small spaces. I don't understand why they have to make those airplane seats so small!

Glad you're home and unwinding.

Welcome home, Susan! Glad to hear that you had a great time - and looking forward to future posts about your trip. I do.not.like to fly... but have for years. This year, we're actually driving to Florida, which is something we used to do many years ago. It was a blast spending all that one-on-one time with hubby cruising through the various states. Unwinding for me means curling up on the couch with my furbabies and watching the tube...and finnnnally sleeping in my own bed! :)

I rarely get to go on trips, I wouldn't know!! :o( But I suppose that, being those a rare thing in my life, I would come back so hyped, I wouldn't mind going back to normality, thinking and dreaming another one will come along eventually. Congratulations to you son! Just like me, I'm sure everyone else is anxious to read and see more of the happy event.
have a lovely weekend!!
