Feminine Touches in Old-Fashioned Bedroom in a Mansion

Alexandra Stoddard, author, interior designer, and lecturer extraordinaire, has influenced my life a lot, despite never meeting face-to-face.

She wrote about the importance of surrounding one's self with beloved objects that make one happy, so to speak.

It is a suggestion that has definitely come to fruition in my own life.

In addition to having beloved things around my own home, it brings me great delight to see the interiors of other homes.

With that in mind, I wanted to see an exposition in the Ventfort Hall mansion in Lenox, Massachusetts.   Called Designer Showcase, it ends on January 15.

If you missed a previous post on Ventfort Hall,
you can see it here.http://writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2011/12/peek-into-mansion.html

A total of 14 designers used their imaginations to decorate rooms on the mansion's second floor.

The master bedroom of Sarah Morgan, one of the original owners of the mansion, was recreated by Carl Sprague of Stockbridge, MA.

He did a fabulous job of piecing together bits of history to make the bedroom look like it would have in the late 1800s.

I loved every single detail of this bedroom.  The little touches, such as the flowers in a round amethyst vase and mirror on the dresser;  the gorgeous covers on the twin brass beds; and the fringed pink lampshade all made my heart beat just a little bit faster.

To reiterate, the Designer Showcase runs only through January 15. Anyone who loves interior design and who is within driving distance of this western Mass town should not miss it. After the 15th, most of the rooms will, once again, be empty.

WHICH DO YOU PREFER, OLD-FASHIONED BEDROOMS OR ONES WITH MORE MODERN DECOR?

I prefer old fashion bedrooms. I think modern decor makes a home looks so cold and sterile.
I love these photos. This is a home I would enjoy living in and cleaning.

Such a lovely room, Susan! I love the linens and the chaise.
I really like traditional with some antique and romantic cottage touches.
Thank you for all your visits to my Christmas Pudding blog over the holidays. You left a wonderful comment on almost every post and I really appreciate it.
Happy New Year to you and your family.

Blessings,
Sandi

What a beautiful bedroom, all the finishing touches are beautiful. I especially love the linens!

I prefer a more modern bedroom, but not stark. I find that I don't like a lot of "stuff" around these days - I'm into de-cluttering! LOL!!

Lovely rooms and photos. I love a clean bedroom! But it won't happen at this address with DH home all the time now. Ha.

I have always enjoyed Alexandra Stoddard too.

The less I have to dust the better..ha. ha. Love these pictures. I'm sure you would have loved to live in this mansion in the late 1800's would you Susan?

I love old fashioned bedrooms but with a twist of the unexpected modern item. I am very eclectic and love to mix it up a bit. :) Kit

Def. the older style for me! This one is "perfect" in its elegance. Not too frilly...just right!

I would love to live in a bedroom like that - all white and lacy. And I loved the long red sofa . . . aso pretty.

Old-fashioned, hands down!

And I am thrilled to find another Alexandra Stoddard fan. Her books way back when were like roses from heaven.... she really influenced my life with her ideas on 'living a beautiful life' and grace notes!

Okay, now I know we're kindred spirits..yes, I'll be back!

BLoggerly hugs.......
