Treasure at a "Tag" Sale

Some people around here call them "tag" sales.

Others prefer to name them  "yard"  sales.

Whatever they are, I love them.  It's like going hunting for treasure.

One never, ever knows what may be found lurking in a basket under a table or in the drawer of an old dresser.

Every year, a church in a rather rural Western Massachusetts town has a yard sale.

It's always well stocked, well attended, and the prices are extremely reasonable.

It's worth taking the long drive into the countryside to attend this annual church fundraising sale.

One of the new found treasures I came across at this year's sale was the covered dish shown in this post.

I almost fainted when I saw the 50 cent sticker on it.

It is definitely vintage.  I think it might have been intended for cheese since it has the little hole-filled insert.

Of course, I loved the flowers around the border.

There is a teeny tiny nick along one of its edges but I don't care. It's still a pretty piece, don't you think?

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS TYPE OF DISH WAS USED FOR?
WHAT WOULD YOU USE IT FOR TODAY?

It's beautiful. I always thought these were butter dishes. I think the middle part is upside down...it should be turned. I have a white ironstone one. I will be anxious to see what your other friends say it is. I maybe wrong

I'd love to go to some of the tag sales in your area. Our yard and garage sales here in Utah seem to be mostly junk.

.50 cents. Gosh, they might as well have just given it away. Sure is pretty. You could use it to store all sorts of sweet treats. Best wishes, Tammy
