The Party's Over, It's Time to Call It a Day

"The party's over, it's time to call it a day..."

 Remember that song?

That's the tune I was singing Tuesday night as well as "Lullaby and Goodnight." Ha!

A birthday bash for my hubs was a lot of work but a blast. Hubs felt pretty special to have a houseful of family, both big and small, to honor him on his special day.

Here's what I served for munching:

Chips and onion dip:

Pepperoni and crackers:

Fruit salad:

Here are items served but, in the frenzy of the party, I forgot to photograph:

Broiled ginger chicken wings.

Lobster turnovers with lime mayonnaise

Hot crab dip served in carved-out round bread shell

Lemon buttermilk bundt cake with vanilla ice cream

The peeps in four colors, shown at top of post, were for the kids.

Mini cupcakes, also for the kids:

Soda, wine and beer.

We sang "Happy Birthday, "  chatted, hubs opened gifts, and we all had a really nice time.

I was so grateful almost everyone came and that everything turned out well.

HOW DO YOU LIKE TO CELEBRATE YOUR BIRTHDAY?

Susan,
You had to be exhausted! You went all out for your dear husband!! What a sweetheart you are-he is a lucky man!
We celebrate with the Birthday person's favorite cake and their choice of food. My husband loves Tex-Mex so we usually meet the family at Anamias!
Sweet Hugs!

Hello from Spain: I like to celebrate family parties at my house. Your food is also very appetizing. I love your desserts. Everything looks elegant and very well done. Congratulations on all the work. I'm sure everyone ate a lot and you had a lot of family fun. Keep in touch

Hi Susan.........wonderful party.....wonderful food....hope you had a wonderful sleep afterwards......
We celebrate the major milestones for the children, but, after 21.... it's only a party b'day if it ends in a 5 or a 0.......same goes for anniversaries. Just too many of us.
Hugs and Blessings..

Oh, all of your goodies look so delectable, and I'm sure everyone enjoyed the party! I just hope you were not too worn out to have a good time yourself!

These days, my favorite way to celebrate a birthday or anniversary is to go to a nice, simple restaurant, where someone else does the cooking and cleaning---for a price, of course! When I was younger and without some of the health issues I now deal with, I always enjoyed preparing all sorts of yummy things for guests to enjoy, and my brain still thinks I can do the same thing, but my body voices its disapproval when I try to do too much. Congrats again on such a lovely party for your dear husband! He surely must know how blessed he is! :-)

Your feast looked so good. Wish I could have been there. I like to celebrate my birthday by going to a wonderful musical program. I also love to eat out as it is a special treat to do that. This weekend I'm using a gift card to a Gershwin concert with the local symphony...that was a birthday gift. YaY!

Wow! What a party!

Our first child was born on my birthday, so the celebration is usually dual. However, I am usually the one who bakes the cake for HER.:-) My husband's birthday is two days after ours. It is extra special if we are able to have a family gathering to celebrate, but that is not always possible. This year, we will celebrate almost a month early because that is when it seems that everyone is able to be together, and we will have to travel a bit to do that.
