Unique Aprons and Dish Towels

All of their lives, both of my grandmothers wore aprons.

If I close my eyes, I can see each woman in her kitchen, cooking, baking and serving, all the while wearing aprons.

People wear them less in these modern times but some still do.

The ones shown in today's post are wayyyyyy different from the plainer ones both of my grandmothers wore.

Love the pops of color, don't you?

All the items in today's post were seen in the Berkshire Mountain Country Store in Lee, Massachusetts.

Remember I told you I'd be doing more posts on their unique merchandise?

Check out how cute these towels are:

Any one of these dish towels or aprons would be so cute to give as gifts, do you agree?

They'd make great hostess gifts.

I'll sign off with one of the store's signs that has a good message. It's true, too.

I want to show you more of their merchandise from time to time because it is  so darned cute.

DO YOU STILL WEAR AN APRON WHEN YOU COOK?

  1. I do wear an apron once or twice a year when doing holiday cooking like basting a turkey etc. I've had the same one for years and it still looks like brand new. Ha! I actually have a musical themed towel from this VERY store that was given to me by one of my sisters....love it!

  2. I do not wear an apron, but probably should, since I'm a messy person! I do remember my grandmothers' aprons, and my mother sometimes wore one. The first thing I made in Home Ec (back in the dark ages) was a simple apron, using one yard of fabric. We tore the yard in half, then tore one half in half for the pocket section that ran the length of the apron, then tore the other half in half and sewed it together to make a sash. It was very simple, with nothing but straight sewing, and it taught us to sew a straight line. Very handy, if all we needed was to cover the belly, but not much good to cover above the waist! Ah....memories! These aprons and towels you've pictured are lovely and happy, Susan! They would be very nice gifts, I think! ;-)

  3. Hi Susan,
I don't wear an apron. But I have seen so many cute aprons on pinterest that I am definitely considering it.

I put an apron on my granddaughter when we bake together. She loves it and makes her feel grown up.

  4. Yes, I wear aprons quite often. Especially when frying food. It keeps spattered grease from ruining my clothes. I keep one of my prettiest ones on a hook in my kitchen.

  8. Lovely aprons, Susan. I sometimes wear one, though not always. When my husband helps in the kitchen, however, he always wears an apron!

  9. I used to wear an apron when my kids were babies, but not now. I do remember my mother and grandmothers wearing them also. My mother would sometimes sew a new one to wear for the holidays.

My daughter in law received a nice one with red poppies on it for a shower gift.
One day we were visiting my son and his wife and when we woke up the next morning he was wearing the apron! He was dressed for work and was making french toast and bacon for all of us and wanted to protect his nice clothes. He was always very practical.

Love the musical towel also. Have to try to visit that store soon.
