Ever since our now adult kids were little, the baking of chocolate chip cookies has filled the house with sweet aromas.
The Toll House recipe right on the package of Nestle's chocolate chips is the one I've always followed. It's practically foolproof.
No margarine has ever been used around here. It's real Land o' Lakes butter or nothing! ha!
I've never been able to get the cookies to be soft. However, through trial and error, they come out a little bit more pliable if removed from the oven about eight minutes after you pop them in!
Whenever a small hostess gift is needed, or there's a children's birthday party to go to, chocolate chip cookies fit the bill.
Found a pretty one during a Goodwill run recently.
While I no longer make chocolate chip cookies often, it is fun to stir up a batch when a grandkid comes to town!

For sure Toll House Chocolate Chips - I too have a hard time making them soft - I think I do know the secret - I think you have to use the old fashion lard -
I make chocolate chip cookies for my grandkids and made them for my own kids too. They were always a favorite in my house and still are.
Chocolate chip cookies are good, but I would have to say that oatmeal raisin(the recipe right from the lid of the Quaker Oatmeal box) are my all time favorite.
I vividly remember coming home from school and spying a huge plate of freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies sitting on the kitchen table. Sometimes the last batch would still be in the oven. I remember coming into the warm kitchen on a frigid winter's day and seeing my mother waiting by the oven to take them out. The warmth, the smell, and a stay at home mom baking cookies; how lucky we were!
Chocolate chip cookies disappear very quickly around here - before they are barely cool enough to eat without burning one's mouth! And - that's just the baker!:-) I could have a half dozen of these eaten while the other tray is baking!:-) I've never been able to get mine soft, either. I wonder how others achieve this.
My families favorite cookie! Yours look scrumptious!
