Enjoying Indian Cuisine

Oh, my , golly gosh.

Hubs and I had the most fabulous Indian lunch yesterday.

It was in a restaurant called Spice Root in the small, quaint and very college oriented town of Williamstown, Massachusetts.

It's the home of Williams College.

The buffet at Spice Root was just top notch.

Atmosphere was nice, too. It was kind of low key but colorful.

The special figure you see above and below can be found in the restaurant. (Wish I knew more about its significance.)

Our waiter was from Nepal.

He served us mango and plain lassi drinks, made from yogurt.

So yummy (but they cost $3.50 each which did pump up the bill.)

He said he has climbed part of Mt. Everest.

The fresh naan (bread) was delish as well as every single offering on the buffet. Score!

The rice dessert in this Indian restaurant had an orange tinge to it and I asked what was added to cause that.  Saffron!

It's one of the most expensive spices on the market.

Wow, that place, which has been around for about 14 years, still rocks.

We also went to a Friends of the Milne Library book sale which was a #1 winner but I'll tell you about that another day.

Have a super Saturday, dear blog peeps.

Was so interested in hearing about Spice Root. We usually have dinner at the Thai Garden (love Thai food) which is right next door and always say we will try Spice Root next time. We never have, but after your review I think we will definitely try it next time we are up that way.

I have been to the Milne Library, but never to their booksale; I bet you found lots of interesting books.

The main thing I like when eating at an Indian Restaurant is the rice pudding. I LOVE any kind of pudding but their rice pudding is extra delicious. I also enjoy the bread that they have there and the chicken dish which escapes me at the moment...very good. I'm not into spicy food so usually ask first and avoid those. Glad you had a nice day out with your husband.

Looks like a nice little restaurant. I do love Indian food. When we go out, I usually get a vegetarian dish with potato or cauliflower or spinach.

That's something we don't usually try but it sounds good. We are going to get Chinese tonight...a place we've found that uses all fresh ingredients. It's SO good! Enjoy your day! Hugs!

I was just telling a blog friend that I've never tried Indian food. Shame on me, right? Nel loves it and says it's delicious. I'm not sure if it would be too spicy for me though. That statue is interesting. I wonder what it's all about?
