While visiting the Vermont Country Store in Weston with our house guest, three of my sisters and I stopped for lunch.
After shopping at the Country Store, we zipped right over to the nearby 1827 Bryant House.
I had a cup of minestrone soup and a delicious bacon/lettuce/tomato and avocado sandwich, minus some of the roll, and both satisfied.
The decadent part of lunch was a small wedge of strawberry/rhubarb pie (shown at top of post.)
It came with a plop of yummy vanilla ice cream. That was a perfect summer treat!
Our sister who was visiting from her home in California yearned for maple walnut ice cream because she cannot get it where she lives.
Her wish came true at Bryant House!
The old home in which the restaurant is located has lots to look at, including an upstairs bedroom with old-fashioned furniture from bygone days.
We did another post on it here.
Downstairs, one can see an antique soda fountain, pretty overhead lamps and mirrors.
We've done other posts on the Vermont Country Store in the past because it's one of our favorite places to visit.
If you are interested, you can see a couple of them here and here and here!
Isn't summer, with all of its many delights and culinary surprises, just wonderful?
DO YOU LIKE TO EAT OUT FOR LUNCH?

If I had the money I would go out every single day - you? And that place and the lunch looked great. I LOVE avocado! You are so lucky to have all these places and your sisters!

I love to eat out...right now I am just grateful for being able to eat! Your food looks good, but I learned the hard way I am deathly allergic to avocado!
Susan, every time you show posts about Vermont, I want to go and visit. I've been dreaming of seeing this place ever since I watched "White Christmas" when some of the scenes were in Vermont. Lucky you, getting to see this lovely place.

What a happy time for you and you sisters! Vermont is a very special place. Are't we are lucky that it is within driving distance from here? Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall there is such natural beauty to be found there. You are smart to make time to share such a fun outing with your dear sisters. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of The Bryant House and all the yummy foods you ate.
I guess my favorite place to eat lunch in the summer is in the boat out on the lake. Packing a picnic lunch and just cruising along or floating along or moored to a special spot by the shore, it is so relaxing. During these last lingering days of August, I think I could eat lunch out on the lake everyday!
What a delightful trip back in time. I love places like this. You have such rich history in New England.
Yummy! Everything looks so delicious!
i love the Vermont Country Store catalogs I get. The store looks like a FABULOUS place. perfect setting for an afternoon getaway to do some shopping.
