New Uses for Old Things

Old, cut glass wine decanters have a beauty of their own.

Some are really quite exquisite.

However, we don't drink wine frequently and it'd be hard to imagine storing leftovers in a decanter.

A few years ago, at a yard sale, I saw a lovely cut glass wine decanter, loved its shape and elegance, and bought it.

Unfortunately, it's been sitting on a shelf in the pantry ever since.

The other day, while struggling once again to open the child-proof top on a mouthwash bottle, the thought struck light lightening!

Why not use the decanter for the mouthwash?

I did just that and it's perfect, not to mention that it adds quite a fancy touch to the bathroom.  ha!

DO YOU LIKE TO RE-PURPOSE ITEMS?

I love that idea - looks pretty as well. Is that real crystal - only thing you have to worry about if it is real lead crystal. I am a worry wart. Very pretty tho.

What a great idea! And it looks so lovely. Yes, I never like to have "products" sitting out on my counters or in my bathroom so I use containers and pump bottles to dispense soap and such. And I use old candy tins for keeping my jewelry and items on my dresser neat and tidy. :) Kit

Oh my, look at this lovely decanter. I have a Pink one that my sister gave me years ago, and ya know, I've never been able to part with it after all these years. There's just something about glass decanters, right? That's clever to use yours for mouthwash in the bathroom.

Susan, just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your simple, positive posts filled with goodness. With so many things going on in the world, your blog is like a breath of fresh air. Many bloggers go on and on about this and that, and I think your pictures with a few chosen words tells the story in a special way. : )

Have a lovely weekend.

Great idea! A friend gave me a decorative wooden box (rectangular) with a handle. I loved it but couldn't figure out how to use it. One day, I moved some items and popped a hot cocoa packet into the box. Perfect! I can have the packets handy and enjoy the pretty container.

Great idea unless it is lead crystal. I do repurpose most everything.
