Window Wonder

Isn't it amazing how certain memories from childhood stick with us even into old age?

In my maternal grandmother's house, the whitest kitchen curtains imaginable, were trimmed with gorgeous red borders that Grandma crocheted.

If I close my eyes, those curtains are still visible.

In a recent blog post, this blog featured a tea party gathering at my cousin's house.

If you missed it, and are interested in seeing it, click the link.

In the dining room, where we had the tea and goodies, the window had lovely white curtains with a wide border of beautiful crocheted edging at the bottom.

Grandma came to mind immediately.

Marianne, my cuzzie, also added a swag of red hearts, perfect for Valentine's Day

Down below, on a cherished lace-covered table, was a deep amethyst decander and matching glasses that my cousin bought recently at an estate sale.  Perfect!

Sometimes we just have to breathe in the beauty around us and appreciate everything.

AS YOU LOOK AROUND WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW, WHAT IS ONE THING YOU ESPECIALLY APPRECIATE?

Oh, that amethyst glassware is gorgeous. Not sure you know this, but Purple is my favorite color. I've never seen this color in glassware before. And your cousin's window is so charming, Susan, with the heart garland and the curtains with crocheted edges. How wonderful that you remember your Grandma's white curtains with red crocheted borders. It's the little things like that that we look back on and remember fondly.

*to answer your question, I am looking around, and one thing I appreciate is the handmade doll. My blog friend, who doesn't blog anymore, sent me it all the way from France. She made it herself and her clothes, and I will cherish it forever. She has brown curly hair and resembles ME!

Lovely pictures of Marianne's decor. I am so glad you had fun with her. I appreciate looking out of my sliding glass doors this morning to bright sunshine and warm temps.

Oh Susan, my daughter loves purple. That decanter would be exactly what she would choose if she had her choice of any colored glassware. I miss you. Hope you are okay.
