Ukrainian Easter Eggs

(Polish doll is in the middle and eggs are Ukrainian.)

The Ukrainian people have always faithfully celebrated Easter.

Every year, my late high school friend, Patti, would come over with Ukrainian food she made.

She also annually brought me a gorgeously intricate and colorful egg.

She used to buy them at a Ukrainian church celebration near Easter time.

They are very precious and very expensive, too.

Such handmade creations take an incredible amount of time and talent to make.

Naturally, I still miss my dear friend, Patti, as well as the food of her Ukrainian background.

However, I have many Ukrainian eggs from her collection as well as some that she gave to me as precious gifts.

This year, while arranging them in the hall corner hutch, a deep sadness filled my heart.

The agony of what the Ukrainian people are going through right now is unspeakable.

They have been torn from their homeland and, in many cases, are no longer even here on earth.

There are thousands upon thousands of refugees, many of whom are innocent children, who have fled extreme violence and bloodshed by Russians.

This Easter, as I look at these beautiful egg creations, prayers will be said for an end to the horrendous war.

Another Easter egg collection here is from Poland.

If interested, stop by another day and those eggs, too, will be shown.

ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH BOTH POLISH AND UKRAINIAN EGGS?

Your Ukrainian eggs are beautiful, Susan, and so special that your friend Patti gave you one every Easter, along with the Ukrainian food she made. They look very nice displayed in your cabinet. It's horrible what is happening in Ukraine right now. Yes, I would love to see your Polish eggs as well. So much detail and creativity went into painting these special eggs.

I love all of Patti's egg collection and I have some Polish Easter eggs on my dining room table right now in a basket. I wish that peace would prevail in Ukraine and pray for it each day.

Your collection is really very lovely. A beautiful reminder of your precious friendship with Patti. I just cannot comprehend in this day and age why narcissistic fools are allowed to rule and ruin the lives of others for their own greed and lust for power. Will humans ever really and truly evolve. It's just so horrible to think of all the oppressed and war weary around the world. Why do people continue to do to others what they would not want done to their own families? I just do not understand.
