Since childhood, this special day is something to look forward to, because it means a delicious turkey dinner will be served with all the traditional trimmings.
In addition, it usually means having family members and friends around the table to share in the abundance.
This year, with the war in Ukraine, inflation making everything in America exorbitantly expensive, and a recession lurking in the shadows, there is a lot to be concerned about.
Still, for one day, we will put aside the worries, trials, and tribulations and just enjoy what is before us.
Besides family members and friends, a roof over my head, food to eat daily, and deep faith in Almighty God, I am grateful to be alive.
Of course, it's always been a treasure to see another sunrise but before, in our younger years, we were too busy to even notice.
Now, as the years pass with rapid speed, we definitely do.
The task of cooking Thanksgiving dinner has been handed over to my daughter and she does a fabulous job.
So, as the potatoes and fresh turnip chunks boil on the stove and the turkey, filled with my Lithuanian grandmother's stuffing recipe, turns golden in the oven, my own heart overflows with gratitude.
I think of all the years that have gone by, filled with sweet memories of Thanksgiving, and realize, despite the difficulties and sorrows, how blessed life is and will always be.

What a beautiful post of Thanksgiving, Susan. Your grandmother's stuffing sounds delicious. My Thanksgiving dinner has been handed over to my son and daughters, and they do it up well. But I still prepare a few sides. My son is roasting the turkey in the oven right now for tomorrow. That pecan pie looks so Yummy. I sometimes crave this pie, not sure why. Your little marshmallow turkeys are whimsical and ready to eat. Happy Thanksgiving to one of my most dear blog friends.

Hello Susan, Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, times are certainly unsettling right now but it's still so important to take time to remember the good things we have in our lives. The traditional dinner still takes place in our home as we have the most room. Everyone helps though. This year I am making the turkey and mashed potatoes, rolls and one dessert. The kids are all bringing the rest. The best part of the day for me is spending time with all the family. So very thankful and grateful for all God's provision.
