Sleighful of Flowers and Memories

This year has been one of extreme change and difficult transition.

Hundreds of personal possessions are still in storage, buried in plastic tubs with tight-fitting tops.

So many items are currently not even able to be located.

So when my daughter put a flower-filled Christmas sleigh in a room in which  I was sleeping, it felt like a treasured gift.

My late high school girlfriend, Patti, and I had a friendship that spanned more than 50 years.

She was immensely talented when it came to creating items of splendorous beauty.

One Christmas, she brought over the sleigh, as a special gift.

It must have taken her many, many hours to put together. All the silk flowers and decorations in it,  probably cost more money than one could even imagine.

It has been preserved, year after year, covered in the attic of a house that has now been sold to someone else.

So seeing the sleigh again was a truly special gift.

Patti is on the other side of life now and she is dearly missed.

Part of her is here, though, in memory, and in the human heart until we meet again.

DO YOU SAVE THINGS THAT LOVED ONES GAVE YOU,  WHO WERE PART OF YOUR LIFE, AND NO LONGER HERE?

Beautiful treasure for you with special memories. I have some crochet angles Mom made that I hang on my tree each year.

The sleigh filled with flowers your friend, Patti, made is really a treasured gift. That was nice of your daughter to put it out so you could see it once again. The white roses remind me of snow. Yes, I do keep sentimental gifts that friends and family gave me, especially when they were handmade. Those are the best kind. : )

Have a blessed week, Susan.
