Our homes, whether they are big Colonials or small apartments, are important parts of our lives.
It has been a life-long obsession to make whatever home I'm living in be comfortable, cozy, and welcoming.
Part of doing that is to surround myself with things loved.
For instance, the cup and plate shown at the top of this post is a Pioneer Woman pattern.
Because this apartment is a very small space, only two cups and two plates were purchased, as opposed to, in the past, an entire set of dishes.
While a lot of furniture was given away or sold during downsizing. my mother's china hutch remains.
It is filled with a collection of deep pink, gorgeous, cranberry glass, another favorite.
Each precious piece was gleaned over decades of life.
A big bouquet of daffodils went by but one sweet flower remained alive so she's in the sparkling crystal vase, all by herself.
Well loved things truly can have a big impact, even if it's just in our own hearts.DO YOU LIKE TO SURROUND YOURSELF WITH ITEMS THAT YOU LOVE?

Your mother's china hutch is gorgeous, and I think I mentioned I had one very similar that I gave away when downsizing too. I sometimes wish I still had it. Your pink cranberry glass looks pretty inside there. And I LOVE the Pioneer Woman tea cup and saucer. Her kitchen collection is delightful. You're right, Susan, it's so nice to decorate our homes with the things we love. Then, it becomes a cozy home and not just a house.

I think our collections are extensions of our personality! I know I have far too many dishes in this home, though I am sure that we enjoy them at appropriate times during the year. I have always loved your pink cranberry glass collection!
I am not a collector or a decorator but I do have a few things I love like my musical dish set with placemats and silverware to match.
I like glass wear and decorations, however I have two cats who are jerks and get their jollies out of knocking stuff off tables so I can't do much collecting.
