For instance, sitting in front of a woodburning fireplace in my former front entry Colonial house brought untold numbers of evenings, filled with comfort and joy.
My late husband would lovingly tend to the building and maintaining of the fire.Even if he spent a lot of time in his man cave, he'd come into the living room to make sure the fireplace was roaring. He knew it made me so happy. What a guy he was.
Now he's gone, the fireplace is gone, and the house is gone.
However, all is not lost. While working on the computer the other day, I found a fireplace that crackles with soft, relaxing music playing in the background.
While working on the budget or other written correspondence, the crackling fire on the computer screen is extremely comforting as is the soft music!Today I even looked behind the opened computer because the fire was crackling so much it could have been a "real" fire. It wasn't but it sure sounded like it!
So far, two Easter cards have arrived. This year, in the small apartment, all cards will be taped around the bunny plaque on the front door.
See? Things change as we do, too, but it's best to just make the most of them!
WHAT IS ONE CHANGE YOU HAVE HAD TO ADJUST TO? WILL YOU SHARE?

It's tough to let go of some of those things that used to be :) But I know that just makes me discontented in what God has given me currently. We once lived in an old family farmhouse, but sold it eventually. Now nothing seems to compare to that old house. But we will never be content if we keep looking back. Maybe one day we will find another home that wraps us up like that one did. In the meantime, we have to bloom where we're planted, don't we?
How neat that you came across the fire screen that crackles. I sometimes put that on my TV during the Fall Holiday season. It is very comforting. I am content where we are now, but I sometimes look back at our big home out in the Country. Living inside the City Limits has some perks, but nothing beats Country living.
I haven't had any changes in my life for a very long time. We have to adjust and not look back. Stay in the present and be content with what we have now. Glad you found a computer fireplace especially since it snowed last night.
Wow that crackling fire must have sounded real for you to check. Good thing you did though!
Right now I’m content and things are good - a little busier than I like but that’s life. I appreciate my life now because we never know when it can change. When my son died, I remember we were on our way to eat at a restaurant with friends - driving along happy and content with my life until one phone call changed my life forever.
Fortunately God was there for me during that hard time. Enjoy each day as if it is our last - and with the ones that make us happy. We can’t change the future.
I totally agree with you, Susan. We just have to use what we have and be grateful. Sometimes we lose wonderful things, but then the Lord fills our cup with more goodness. That fireplace on the computer looks so cozy, and I bet you miss the real thing sometimes. That's a great idea to display your Easter cards on your front door, so you can see them throughout the day.
