A Winter Respite

When winter, with its single digit temps and some long, lonely days,  begins to get on one's nerves, one solution is to invite a dear friend for brunch.

It's fun to decide what to serve, how to decorate, and to share precious hours with a person one loves.

When having a special brunch,  beautiful Old Country Roses dishes, red goblets, and a lace cloth, make a table look lovely.

Recently, a dear cousin and I, had quiche, guacamole with crackers, fresh cherries, and spice cake with cream cheese frosting.

Of course, coffee accompanied our little brunch.

These kinds of respites bring sunshine into our lives despite dark grayness and cold outside.

Now, with Valentine's Day around the corner, it's also fun to add hearts and other decor to celebrate the upcoming day of love.

WHAT DO YOU DO TO ADD JOY TO WINTER ?

Everything looks so sweet and festive to make for the perfect brunch. You really outdid yourself Susan in making sure not only the settings, but that the food was wonderful. what a fabulous way to brighten any winter day. Our home seems to have rotating doors since most all our family lives near by. Several of them come by everyday, which brings us a lot of joy.

How nice. I especially love the look of the pink roses at the base of the lamp. So feminine! 💕

No winter here. Temps in the low 80s . Guests from Massachusetts are loving it here. .BBQ today with friends of my daughters. We had lobster rolls and clam chowder last night. I think your setting for your brunch was darling. I'm sure your guest loved everything. Stay warm.

I love that Old Country Rose pattern. It's so pretty. What a nice brunch you prepared for your cousin, Susan. The cherries look Yummy, and that spice cake! The cream cheese frosting must have been wonderful. Hang in there with the cold wintery season, Susan. It will come and go for another year. ; )

We don't have winter here in Saudi, the last time I experienced winter in the States was in 2017...I was out either walking, sightseeing, generally wandering everyday regardless of weather which is very uplifting.

I like to buy tulips for the dining table in January. We're a long way from warm enough temperatures for them to grow outside so seeing them on the table reminds me that spring will come evantually!
