In homes all over, holiday decorations are being taken down, wrapped, and stored in plastic totes until next Christmas.
It's immense fun to decorate one's space but a rather tedious, time-consuming task to take everything down and pack it away.
However, no one would really want their homes or apartments filled with Christmas decorations year-round, right?Whenever a feeling of being overwhelmed came over me in the past, my late husband would remind me of how to handle anything.
"How do you eat an elephant?" he would ask.
"How?" I always answered.
"One bite at a time," he'd say and we'd both laugh.
His wise words will probably always remain with me because their message is so clear.
Taking down decor in just one corner or half a room at a time may be all that is bearable for the moment.
Little by little, it will all get done. There is no rush to finish such a daunting task all at once. While Christmas is over, the hope, peace, and love brought by the little Christ child remains.
He gives strength to the weary and peace so deep that nothing can disturb those who place their trust in Him.
As you take down decorations, savor precious memories made this past holiday season and let your heart fill to the brim with His never ending love.
A blessed, joyful, and peaceful new year to all!
