Dreams Do Come True!
The author, Sarah Breathnach, who wrote Simple Abundance, was the author who got me hooked on self-discovery.
Her Illustrated Self-Discovery Journal has provided literally hundreds of hours of pure joy. Making collages with items clipped from magazine, it propels one to look deeply inside one's self to see what's appealing, likes and dislikes, and to even plan for the future.
A section titled "Someday" is one of my favorites. It helps me to dream of what could be or might be!
A couple of years ago, a very dear friend gifted me with a gold-plated set of forks, knives, and spoons. They were very beautiful and matched perfectly with my set of Old Country Roses china. The only problem was that some pieces of the "silverware" were missing. There was an uneven number of forks versus knives. My hope was that someday I'd be able to find, or afford, additional pieces to complete the set.
Okay. The purpose of this story is to point out that visualization of one's wishes, or even goals, can bring them to reality. Many, many items I have pasted in the "Someday" section of the Self-Discovery journal have, indeed, come to fruition. It's very amazing to me.
Most recently, while perusing the aisles at Saver's, one of my favorite thrift stores, I passed by the glass case where more valuable items are kept locked. There, on the bottom shelf, right before my eyes, was a case of gold-plated serving pieces! I couldn't believe it! It was exactly like the one I had pasted in the journal! Only a couple of knives were missing.
Less than $35 for the incomplete set, I was able to purchase it on the spot because a friend had given me some money for driving her two and a half hours away to a medical appointment. The pieces were in perfect condition. My set's now complete. I uttered "thank yous" all the way to the car!
Unbelievable.
Also at the thrift store, I found a little sculpture that totally appealed to me.
It's reminiscent of sculptures found in Greece.
In addition, picked up a very pretty, new battenburg lace valence that, once washed, ironed, and starched, looks stunning in the upstairs bathroom!
Had lots to write at night in my Gratitude Journal after my daytime thrift shop excursion.
HAVE YOU USED VISUALIZATION FOR SOMETHING IN YOUR OWN LIFE?

Thank you for a wonderful post dear friend! It reminds me to not only be grateful but to keep focus of the things I truly want.
Many times... I have also ready several books on Quantum Theory... Which is the premise behind the book "The Secret." If you believe something... know it to be true... it will be...
Hi Susan
Just popping by to say hi. What a great post today! Love the new valance too!
Leann
Hi Susan: What a great find! I love it when things like that happen. It is just a God thing! You are a sweet lady, I am not surprised wonderful things like this happen to you. Blessings dear friend, Martha
It's the best when you find something you thought you'd never find. And the bust? Love it! I have been able to get the battenberg lace STILL IN ORIGINAL PACKAGE at my thrift shop. ($4.14) for a pair of swags. Love when you share your finds!
Dear Susan, Gods Word is full of examples of his love for us and I know for sure he delights in giving good things to his children. I am so happy that you were able to find the flatware and more than complete your set! It is beautiful and I know you will enjoy it over and over!
Nice stopping by this evening!
Kindly, ldh
Dear Linda, Dianne, Leann, Martha, middle child, and LDH...How wonderful to switch on my computer after a busy, BUSY day and see that all of you came by to visit. Ohhhhh, that was great. Thanks for all your sweet comments. Take care and please come again soon. Sincerely, Susan
Hi Susan! I never really thought much about visualizing my (writing) dreams coming true until about a year ago. I read about posting a note somewhere that I would see every day. I wrote down these four sentences: I'm losing all the weight I want to lose. I'm finishing my book. I'm getting it published by a good/great publisher. I'm making millions because it's a BEST SELLER! Well...I've already got a very good publisher! I'm working on losing that weight! And I'm definitely working on finishing my book. So, what's left after those? Having that BEST SELLER!! Look out world, here I come! :)
Thanks, Susan, for being such a great blog friend!
Thank you, too, Becky. I hope ALL your notes come true! Sincerely, Susan
