Old-Fashioned Beauties For Cindy's Friday Show and Tell at "My Romantic Home"

Dolls in old-fashioned satin and lace dresses can add a touch of Victorian elegance to a decor.

A couple of the beauties shown in today's post even have tiny silk rosebuds sewn into their fancy dresses.  They have gorgeous locks of hair and long eyelashes, too.

The dolls in our house used to reside in a small room of their own on the second floor. However, little by little, they have come down to the main living area.  They are too pretty to keep hidden away. So some are on the main table in the front hallway, others are on a table in the dining room, and a couple sit in little chairs near the fireplace.

Each doll has her own personality and aura. Some have brown locks, others are blondes, and a few have red hair!

The one on the left reminds me of Heidi!

This little doll's dress is covered with cherries.

Here's an adorable blonde doll who is actually part of a
lamp! She holds a fancy umbrella and is all dressed in pink.

She was a gift from my daughter.

These are a few of the dolls from my collection. Hope you enjoyed looking at them!

DO YOU STILL LIKE DOLLS?  WERE THEY A PART OF YOUR CHILDHOOD?

They are gorgeous! I just got a bundle of the same silk rose buds today! When I was in New York state for my MIL's funeral, the funeral home has a collection of dolls (my FIL built the display cases for them). They even have the some of the First Ladies. There are a hundred or so in the parlor and that's not all of their collection. It's quite something to see.

I was just corrected...they have ALL of the available First Lady porcelain dolls!

Oh, Susan! How adorable! What is it about dolls that turn us..uh.."not so young women"....into little girls again?! I had 2 baby dolls growing up: A Tiny Tears, and a generic! Then I did receive a beautiful bride's doll for my birthday one year! I can still picture her, in the big white box she came in. I have no idea what happened to any of my old toys/dolls. Unfortunately,my mother wasn't a "keeper".

Hiya Susan! Your dollies are so gorgeous. You know, I've always wanted one of those pretties ever since I was young. But I never got myself one. There's always been something else to buy. One of these days I'm going to splurge and get at least one. I don't blame you for displaying them. They're too pretty to keep hidden. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Susan...I'm still around, just not on the computer as much in the warm months. Those 2 top dolls are gorgeous. That top one is one of the prettiest dolls that I've ever seen. I don't have any of my childhood dolls. I was always playing with dolls as a child. I loved real babies too and always wanted to hold them.
I do have a few dolls, mostly brides. I don't get into serious collecting, because with my collecting mania, I'd be spending way too much money. They are lovely though!!
hugs and smiles

Beautiful dolls Susan. I loved playing with dolls when I was a child. But with 6 girls and my little man, the live dolls are much more exciting. lol. I watch my girls play with their dolls all the time and my son plays with his cars and dinosaurs. Thanks for sharing. You always have great pictures.

Beautiful dolls! Thanks for sharing some of your collection. I love the blonde doll's curls!
I used to collect dolls, but I always preferred the lady dolls. I plan to have them in a Show and Tell Friday eventually!

I love your dolls, they're gorgeous! I was definitely a doll girl when I was little, I only have 2 of my baby dolls left and they're in sad shape now.

I only had two dolls from my childhood...ones that I played with ... boy were they ever tattered.
I didn't start collecting a few porcelain dolls until after I was married and had a little girl....now there are a few that adorn her room! it's such fun to be a girl and relish in girly things!
your dolls are precious! thanks for sharing!
