The rich smell of the coffee wafts through the entire house. Just thinking about drinking it is impetus to get up and out of bed.
It's the most delicious with a splash of light cream or half-and-half. Evaporated milk will do in a pinch, if the others are not available.
It also has to be hot. Mmmmmm, the taste is just delicious.
A Turkish proverb about coffee says it all (except for the black part):
"Coffee should be black as hell, strong as death, and sweet as love."

DO YOU LOVE MORNING COFFEE OR ARE YOU A TEA DRINKER?

Ah, my addiction. I love that quote. I'll have to remember that. In February I wish I lived in the south. In August I wish I lived in New England.
You know, I love the aroma of coffee but much prefer tea. So I enjoy the scent while my husband drinks his coffee and I sip on my tea:)
Blessings,
Karen :)
I LOVE morning coffee. But I do prefer tea in the afternoon or at night.
You are so right - there is nothing like that first cup of morning coffee!

I hope to join this party when I can get back to Kuwait and can organize myself better. I always start my day with a cup at home and a cup for the road (when I'm working).
Was so humid at the gardens today. But it was certainly a nice tour.
Thanks for stopping my way. :) Tammy
Ah. That first sip of coffee. My simple pleasure every morning.
(Don't forget to put your link on Dayle's blog. Didn't see it there.)
I love my morning coffee! I love french vanilla creamer, yum! Well time to go to sleep so I can get up and have that coffee!
Rosie,
I love both. Used to be able to have coffee in the morning, but now alittle to acidic for me first thing, so I do tea and then coffee alittle later. I love Starbucks to brew and I also, have a Kuerig maker, which I love Emeril's coffee.
Oh, I'm definitely a coffee girl! I love it as much as you do, and like you I like some half and half in mine. I would have blogged it as a simple pleasure myself, but other pleasures keep pushing themselves to the head of the line every week. Grin.
Great one. Yep. A truly simple pleasure... a gift of God.
I do love my morning coffee also. Black, nothing in it and strong. Although sometimes I am in the mood for diet coke in the morn.. as today.. as long as I get the caffiene going.
Blessings~
Gwen:)
Nothing can beat that first cup of morning coffee. Perfect simple pleasure... and mine has to be black. :) I do enjoy a cup of sweet coffee occasionally, but for the most part, black as hell, as the Turkish proverb said, and hot and strong!
Coffee is NOT a pleasure of mine..haven't had any in over forty years...I only drink tea. Something in coffee makes me very ill...So glad it is a pleasure of yours in the morning anyway!
Susan, I agree with you on the coffee. Nothing better first thing in the morning.
yummmmmmm
love that one cup, for sure
I love it straight - and quite strong, if you please. A couple of cups in the morning is enough for me. And I agree with you - it MUST be hot.
Mine must also be sipped out of my special mug. If it happens to be in the dishwasher, the substitute mug MUST have a "lip" on it. (It must feel "just right" to suit me.)
Your cup and saucer are really beautiful, by the way.
Hello Girls....
Well, I see most of us like our morning coffee! So wonderful to check in on my blog and see that you all visited and commented. Wow. That's awesome.
Thanks so much, Dayle, for hosting Simple Pleasures! Love, Susan
I am not a coffee drinker at all, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE tea. So, I'm calling your beautiful cup a teacup.
By the way, my husband is a coffee drinker, and for about 5 years now he has been roasting his own coffee. He buys the beans raw (sometimes called "green), and he roasts them in his coffee roaster. He says there is nothing like fresh-roasted, fresh-brewed coffee...but since I don't drink it, I am just taking his word for it.
Have a lovely day,
Patti
I love it too. Ours is set on a timer and when it is time to get up we hear the trickle trickle of the water starting to brew---wonderful. I like mine black with some cinnamon!
Count me in for coffee in the morning, made from beans we grind right before making the coffee. I like the Turkish saying; I lived in Turkey for a year attending college there, and they make fabulous coffee too. My Turkish friends would turn the empty coffee cup upside down and tell fortunes from the grounds left in the cup.
Can't function without my first cup in the morning-enjoy!
A girl after my own heart....I love coffee...my favorite reason to wake up...well not my favorite, but the first thing I look forward to seeing:)
