For Cindy's Friday Show and Tell at "My Romantic Home": Amber Glass

Like it or not, fall is edging its way into the last, lingering days of summer.  Nights are starting to get refreshingly chilly which makes it perfect for sleeping under a warm comforter.

Another sign of fall around our house is seeing amber glassware in the kitchen windows. I finally succumbed to fact that summer was on the wane.

So, up into the attic I went, and searched for the box that held the amber glass collection. Actually, it's a fairly small glass collection.

The best description I've heard about amber glass is that it looks like "liquid gold." It's rich looking and goes perfectly with the colors of fall.

It's even beautiful in jewelry, often made in Lithuania or Poland.

Once, I found some discarded pendants from a chandelier. They were at the bottom of a box, en route to the trash so I immediately scooped them up. Then, I asked an artist friend to make a necklace out of them.  It's a little heavy but he did a great job and now even that amber piece is a favorite.

I still haven't found any suitable curtains for our remodeled kitchen windows and I'm actually even enjoying the bare windows. They let in more light. Now, amber glass lines several of the sills.

Okay, autumn, come full force ahead if you want to. Now that the amber glass is on display,  we are ready for you.

I have a green basket just like your amber one. I love it. I'd gotten it for my mother-in-law and when she died, I took it back. It seems as though I just found the rest of my summer clothes and now it's fall already. Think it would be rushing it if I put out my little "Let It Snow" flag? Ha.

Pretty and sparkly - perfect for autumn.

I love your older style windows and think they look great without curtains.

But, I wish around here it was getting chilly at night. We're still in Hurricane Season and the nights are still in the high 70s. So, enjoy the cool for me, willya?

Hi Susan -

Your collection is beautiful. I love glassware in almost any color. Unfortunately, I don't have a windowsill like yours. My windows are the casement variety.

Blessings,
Susan :)
