The Precious, Sun-Filled Days of Autumn

The lingering days of autumn are as precious as jewels.

Late afternoon sunshine pours through windows that, in a few short months, will be covered with ice formations.  Snow and sleet will make the outside unfit for all but the bravest humans and  animals.

For now, however, autumn's light fills the house with brightness. As it streams into the pantry, its rays illuminate many pieces of glassware.

Actually, there are too many pieces cramming one big shelf and weeding out is badly needed. The glassy clutter is the result of too-hard-to-resist yard sale and thrift store finds!  However, the clutter is getting to me and it's time to streamline.

It would be great to have a little what-not shop to put it all in and then re-sell but I don't know how to do that. There would be rent and insurances, location, and so on and so forth. The thought of all that is too daunting.

So, for now, everything gets stashed into the pantry where the sun makes each piece, from glasses to a small vase on a windowsill, sparkle.

Autumn sunlight even fills one's heart with brightness. It makes a person feel happy and warmed.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF AUTUMN BESIDES THE COLORED LEAVES?

the crispness of the air. I love the Star of David glass. Never thought of sharing something like this with crystal pieces. Very creative.

I live in a place with constant sunshine...so no autumn for me...but you own lovely pieces of glassware. I think a "what not" shop would be PERFECT for you...do a little more research on it.

I love the cooler days and nights of Fall! I also have 'stuff' everywhere and I'm in the process of putting away and organizing. Trying to not purchase as much until I can get things cleaned up...very hard to do!!

I really liked this post! My favorite part of Autumn is the wind and the crisp air.
p.s. - I am one of the bravest of braves who LOVES the Winter!

I love that single, etched vase on the sill. It reminds me of designs on a frosted windowpane, not that I like winter!

THE COLOURS AND THE COOLER TEMPERATURES...are my favourite things about autumn!

great post Susan....your writing is such a treat to read...'all but the bravest'...love it...you are a poetic charmer!

I spent many years thinking about a physical store or shop to sell my collections in and my arts and crafts....but that would mean too many headaches and work...and the overhead alone would probably not make it worth it!

NOW I HAVE MY VIRTUAL SHOP....MY DARLING ETSY SHOP...AND IT IS JUST THE MOST PERFECT THING FOR ME!

maybe some day you'll venture out and do something more...you'll know when the timing is right!

I HAVE FINALLY LISTED MY WATERCOLOUR IN MY ETSY SHOP...SPEAKING OF...but I have so much more work to do..that I'd best be off now!

thanks for always taking the time to visit with me, dear bloggy friend!

ciao bella!

Hmmmm...well, actually Autumn does not exist here, so I don't even have changing-color leaves to admire!! :o( Nevertheless, I have created my very own Autumn with what's available around: windy afternoons, grey skies, rain showers, and pine cones on the grown! Both picking pine cones up (for crafts!) and enjoying cooler afternoons are my favorites.
Oh!...and I found a Maple-like tree that changes leave colors! I am determined to find out which tree is it, and to have one at home. It will too become a favorite around this time of year for sure! :o)
have a lovely early Autumn day!

The cooler weather energizes me.

Maybe you could start a "sales" blog like Parisienne Farmgirl has.
