Meditation: A Gift We Give Ourselves for Dayle's Simple Pleasures Party

What is needed for successful meditation?

Everyone would give different answers since each individual needs something specific.

Personally, quiet is essential.  Secondly, nature enhances meditating.  Being outside puts a person in touch with clouds, sky, trees, water, and wildlife.

Meditating does not cost a cent. One does not have to travel anywhere special to do it. It calms the mind, relaxes the body, and enriches the spirit. It is a supreme simple pleasure.

The pond photographed offers a perfect spot to relax and meditate.  At first glance, the pond looks quiet and still.  A few minutes of observation, however, will reveal different kinds of life in and around it.

A ripple of the water, a butterfly alighting on a piece of grass, and a bird gliding through the air all offer comfort to the soul.

A few minutes of intense meditation help clear the mind and give energy.  Meditation is a gift we give ourselves.  Cherish this simple pleasure.

ARE YOU ABLE TO MEDITATE?

Now be sure to hop on over to  Dayle's blog, A Collection of This and That, http://alittleofthisandthat2.blogspot.com/ and check out all the other simple pleasures. Her blog button is in the sidebar, too!

Susan, this is such a meaningful post, and perfect for Simple Pleasures. It made me want to stop everything and find a quiet spot.

Coming upon a scene like this would naturally draw my thoughts to God and cause much contemplation on His beauty. To meditate on Him is my delight! What a lovely image of a quiet haven:-) blessings..Trish

I would feel yet closer to God in such a gorgeous setting. You're so right about the need for simple quiet solitude.

Meditation is such a wonderful simple pleasure, and one I am guilty of not using nearing as much as I should. Makes me think I need to stop things and take some time and go to my little quiet spot.

Thanks for sharing,
Hugs,
Cindy

I pray instead...always in a quiet place wherever I am during the day and the evening. It calms me and gives me hope.

I would like a whole weekend of meditation. If only I could talk hubby into running away with the kids for a while. :) Hope you are having a great day Susan. Best wishes, Tammy

I pray throughout the day, but don't often make the time just really meditate. I did Christian Yoga a few weeks ago and it was so wonderful!

When I meditate....I pray. To me it's deeper, more focused, and so very calming. Just listening to what God might say to me centers me. :)

I love the picture, the reflections in the water are beautiful. I could sit there for quite some time and spend some quiet time there in prayer.
