Simple Pleasure : Late Afternoon Sunlight

There is something magical about late afternoon sunlight.

Whatever room walked into at that time of day tends to be bathed in liquid gold.  When it streams through lace curtains, it leaves lovely patterns on the walls.

These days, any sunshine is a welcome sight but late afternoon sunshine is extra special. It disappears quickly, welcoming the cold, starless  winter nights.

Sometimes, it's nice to stand in front of a window and let the sunlight pour onto one's face. It's at moments like that I like to whisper a few words to the Creator, giving thanks for the precious simple pleasure of the afternoon sun. Then, it's gone and one can only hope for its return during the next day of life.

Dayle, from the blog "A Collection of This and That" sponsors today's Simple Pleasures party in which Writing Straight from the Heart is participating. Please take a minute to check out all the other simple pleasure entries by clicking on :(http://alittleofthisandthat2.blogspot.com/ ).

LOVE IT! Love the pictures and love that light. I might share something similar. Was wondering what to share this week because we are so blessed by so many simple pleasures. Don't you just love how Dayle's Simple Pleasures makes us even more aware of them?
Blessings!

Oh, and I just love that ear wiggling bunny. ;) Too cute.

Thanks for sharing your sunshine. I'd forgotten what it looks like. BTW - Being directly in the sun does lift one's spirits. It is a medical fact. And yes,...it is God Who creates these beautiful things.

So pretty, Susan! I love the sun coming in windows, too. We've had quite the warm-up here...74 degrees today! That was only 2 degrees from a record high temp. I'm not telling you that to make you feel bad, just a reminder that spring truly is on its way...although here it still can snow in April!! Happiness and Hugs to you!

Lovely images Susan! I could join a club to have access to a pool but very expensive and I don't think they would want me to show up in my pajamas. My favorite time of day is when I can take a bubble bath, put on my pajamas and just BE! My other favorite time is morning, right now, with only the tap tap tapping of my fingers on the keyboard. Wishing you a most wonderful day. :) Tammy

Hi Susan,
Like you, I love the sun coming through the lace curtains. No matter what is happening in my life, going into my bedroom and seeing the sun through the curtains makes me smile.
Thanks for visiting me.
God Bless

You and I are on the same wavelength this week. My simple pleasure is about sunshine too. I would hate to live in a world without it. Your photos are lovely.

I love this time of day too! As the song says 'Heavenly shades of night are falling, its twilight time'. Love the shadows creeping into corners, feels so warm and cosy. xx

I love the dreamy feeling of your gold light! I too love this look. I miss it when summer is here and it doesn't stream into the house like in other seasons.

Sunshine brings vitamin D which is very healthy for you. I love sunshine. I live in a climate where the sun is out MOST of the time. Right now we are in the midst of a week's worth of rain so the sunshine will be very welcome. I like it best after a shower and you can see a rainbow! Love your pics.

Susan - your pictures are beautiful. I love the morning sun and the evening sun. The only part of the day I don't like is high noonish. When the sun is overhead there are no shadows and everything looks flat.

How beautiful that late afternoon sunlight makes everything look.

Yes, afternoon sunlight is so beautiful and it makes everything look wonderful. The light through the lace curtain is gorgeous as the lace itself.

Sunlight, whether morning or evening, is something that always makes me happy. The pattern it creates, as it moves across a room ... simply divine.
