Embrace Change

Change in life sometimes hits us  with unexpected force.

Someone we love dies suddenly or a job abruptly ends.  Friends we thought would be in our lives forever are no longer around. Our precious children, the center of our lives for so many years, grow up and move away.

Change, like it or not, is part of life. It is going to happen and we have to adjust or perish.

People who don't accept change are bound to be stuck in the past.  Nothing stays the same forever--nothing, at least, in the human world.

As people get older, it's even more important to accept change or be left in the dark.  Computers; intricate cell phones that have GPS, the Internet, and e-mail;  and other kinds of technology are familiar to the younger generation but can be puzzling to older people. The latter, however, had better get with the program.  Learning something new can seem daunting and difficult beyond belief but it can also be exciting.

Age should not be a limitation to continuing to learn and explore new things.

Change is here to stay so we must embrace it.

WHAT WAS THE LAST CHANGE IN YOUR OWN LIFE THAT WAS DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH?

p.s. The very first photo shown at the top of today's post was taken at the Spring Bulb Show at the Botanic Garden on the Smith College campus in Northampton, Massachusetts.

By the way, if you are a Follower and want to be included in the giveaway, just leave a comment on Sunday's blog.  The winner will be picked on Friday, April 1st (no fooling.)

You are right on target Susan - if you can't learn to adapt to change the world becomes a much harder place to live it. I know it doesn't come over night - but it does have to be worked on.

My change I am trying to deal with now is my husband's retirement and him being home all the time. Whew. I'm deep breathing a lot these days. I will make it. LOL

Love, sandie

Wow Susan the picture is beautiful! Oh all too well I remember. I blogged about it and had many wonderful comments but had to take it down due to it falling in the wrong hands sort of thing. But it was my blogging family that help to pull me thru. My grandbaby of 9 years was kidnapped on the 15th but returned on saturday in the wee early morning hours and nobody believes this or at least I did not till it happens to them but it was a family member. He is safe now and is going to be counsiled for a little while but with Gods good grace he will be his old self in no time. So I am also thankful for the internet and all the bloggers out there that are caring wonderful people that I would never have met if I did not welcome change into my life. Thanks for the reminder....have a great evening.

My most recent "great" change (going on three years now) was having both of my children "out of the nest". It's very difficult to adjust to an empty nest.

The one constant in life is change. I'm not a fan of change, but have tried hard to adjust my thinking process about it, in general. Change can be the beginning of a new adventure .... hmmm .... I still don't like it though. :) My latest change was a new phone and it isn't even a smart phone but I still miss my old phone.

The last change - is one I am still dealing with - but, through the grace of God able to continue life with hope and joy. A year ago this past January my younger brother was brutally murdered by his friend and roommate. Both my parents have passed away and we siblings were all we had left. He was single and was a dear uncle to our children - He was a big, kindhearted teddybear who would do anything for you - he is dearly missed. But, I trust God in that one day I will see him again - in a much better place.

I'm awful at handling change. I hate change! and while I know change is part of life, I sometimes with it wasn't. I can deal great with change that means happiness and joy, but don't even dare to think about the type of change that will translate into sorrow, pain and sadness. I know it will happen eventually, but it is not something I am looking forward to.
My brother's mother-in-law passed away last December. She used to take care of my little niece (she just turned 1 year old last week) up until then. When she passed away, my niece then came to my mother's hands and care. It changed everything "normal" in our household and life. While it was kind of complicated to adapt (still is some days) it was the "happy" kind of change. A little baby is always a great joy and a big blessing.
Very deep, very interesting post!
have a lovely day!

Susan,
I love the flower pictures. Ahhhhh! Good post. Spring is a season of change, isn't it? Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving me inspiring messages as I have been struggling with health issues.

Susan, great post! Change happens to all of us and we can embrace it or fight it and be miserable. My last big change was losing my job. It was a blow and one of the hardest things I've had to deal with in a long time. I am OK now and have 'retired' but it has taken me a year to reconcile with it all. Now of course I'm about to be a Grandma so God is giving me a new job! hugs, Linda

Hi Susan - thanks for the sweet comments on Baby :) And yes, this weather is getting to be ridiculous! Change.. my sister and I have become our dad's caretakers. The man who was always so independent and who took care of us. That's probably the biggest change I've experienced lately, one that many of us go through.

Let's hope the weather gets warmer real soon!!!

Hi Susan, well, you know the kinda changes that have been happening around here lately. Yes, life does go on and we all must cope the best we can. No sense in worrying about what might be or dwelling on what could have been. People get stuck when they start doing that. I am more of a go with the flow kinda gal. Speaking of change, I kept seeing a new face in my comments and thought, I need to see who this new Susan person is -- but it was you, with a new profile picture. HA!

Rooibos tea on its own is not so great tasting. Green tea is much better ... I actually do like all green teas and don't normally like anything fruity, but the strawberry & vanilla rooibos is actually pretty good.

Hope you are having a great day. :) Tammy

Those roses are gorgeous!

Oh no, does this mean I have to get an iPhone? I haven't even graduated to texting.

My latest change was switching to daylight savings time. That lost hour of sleep still hasn't caught up with me. I read some of the other comments on this blog today and compared to them my life changes are just insignificant.

Hi Susan,

I love the first picture it is beautiful. My last big change was switching gears from vacation mode to "back to real life" mode.

It's been a tough one.

Susan,
The last change in my life that is still very difficult to deal with is losing both my parents and not having them in my life anymore. I did a tribute to my mom on the anniversary of her passing. If you haven't visited yet, please do when you find some spare time.

Hugs,
Debbie
