China Plates from Many Countries Decorate A Kitchen

Since remodeling our kitchen, decorative plates have been added to one entire wall.

(If you are interested in reading about kitchen remodeling on a budget, you can find a post here:    http://writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com/2010/05/kitchen-transformation-on-budget-for.html )

In addition, plates on holders have been placed on top of the kitchen cabinets. While most of the plates are blue and white, some have touches of yellow in them.

The plates were made in several different countries and almost all of them were thrifted!  There are some very artistic and intricate plates in thrift stores and at yard sales. One must just be able to sift through the discards to find the gems!

These photos are less than the best because, unfortunately,  I waited until night time to snap them. Considering that I was precariously perched on a kitchen stool trying to snap the ones on the top of the cabinets, they aren't that bad. At least I didn't topple over and have to call the ambulance.

This is a plate from Mexico. It is "Talavera" pottery, made in a specific town in that country.

Because my maternal roots are Polish, this dish,  made in Poland, is extra special.

Here's a little pitcher on a kitchen windowsill. It matches the predominantly blue and white theme. The plate is one of the ones on top of the cabinets.

This is a big casserole with a bright and cheerful design.  Found it at Saver's.  It's been used many times to bring soup to family members who were under the weather. Thank goodness that, up until now, it's always been returned.

WHAT COLORS DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR KITCHEN?

Today, Writing Straight from the Heart is joining Cindy's Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home. Check out her beautiful blog at http:romantichome.blogspot.com/ to see some of the other entries for Show and Tell Friday.
We are also  joining Diann at The Thrifty Groove for a new Friday party, "Thrifty Things Friday," she is sponsoring.

Susan, I LOVE your kitchen and of course, your beautiful plates. I have plates on my dining room wall and my guest room wall! I've posted photos of the dining room wall before, but not the bedroom. (The Ronald thought that was really weird having "plates" on a bedroom wall!)

Your kitchen is lovely--the colors of your plates are perfect combination together.

I love blue and white together. My kitchen is rose, blue, and brown --- not blue and white. But I have a display area on the top of a long set of bookcases in another room where I display all my blue and white. I have some plates (not nearly as many as you), but most of my blue and white things are pitchers, teacups, creamers, and such. Your kitchen is beautiful!

Love your kitchen. I live in earthquake country so do not hang anything on walls.

Lovely plates and they look so nice in a display on the cupboard top. I have tea pots there and hate the cleaning of them...which I don't do often!Your blue and whites would be at home here.

Hi Susan, I adore the first plate!

You know how I love blue and white.

My kitchen colors would have to be burgandy/cream/dark green.

(My entire downstairs really)

Your kitchen is beautiful.

So bright and clean.

*hugs*

pretty plates! I only have decorating plates when it's Christmas time. Curious, huh? I love the blue and yellow combination. Our kitchen is yellow at home as well!! with wood. It's a tiny kitchen. I mean TINY, which oddly enough does not balance with the rest of the house. I wonder who made the plans?! But it is a lovely kitchen, by what we call our pantry, where we spend a lot of time :o)
have a lovely day!

Hi Susan!
Thank you so much for your visit and I really think that's a great idea to make an attic inspiration board! Even if we end up never remodeling it - it would still be fun to collect pics of the way I would have loved it to be :-)
Your kitchen is gorgeous and isn't it fun to collect just the right plates for the perfect finishing touches! Yours mix and match so wonderfully - and I think the photos turned our just great . . . and I'm glad you didnt topple over :-)
Thanks for sharing your inspiration!!
Hugs,
Lynn
