Simple Pleasure: The Ability to See Color

Every Thursday, Dayle,  in Texas, hosts Simple Pleasures at her blog, A Collection of This and That. It is a series of posts that was created by Dayle to remind people "to stop, to look, to listen, to slow down and pay closer attention to the simple things in life."

Bloggers from all over the United States participate by sharing their own simple pleasures.

So today,  from Western Massachusetts, Writing Straight from the Heart shares on our ability to see color.

Imagine what it would be like to live in a world that is only black and white. It would be so boring. Even more tragic would be to have no sight and be immersed in blackness.

More than just about any other sense, I cherish eyesight the most. It is one of the Creator's greatest and most treasured gifts.

The bright flowers at the top of this post are found on a new porch rug, spotted in a pharmacy here in Western Mass. Actually, I went into the store to buy something else. However, how could I possibly pass up such a cheerful rug that would welcome guests this Easter season?

There are splashes of color all through our house, as well, such as this perky chick who hangs on a door in our kitchen at this time of year.

Yes, ability to see color is a very prized and valued simple pleasure.

Be sure to check out all the other Simple Pleasures entries on Dayle's blog, A Collection of This and That.

I could not agree with you more. And may I add that my DH is colorblind and there is not a week that goes by that I don't feel sad at a time or two because he cannot genuily see color as beautiful as I can....

Just a note to let you know I received your wonderful package. When I opened it I saw you had everything wrapped so nice.

I wanted to take the time this weekend and take some photo's for a post on it. So I will be waiting until I have some time this weekend to take pictures and post of winning your giveaway.

Thanks so much.

I love all the color and it was part of our discussion last night, not being able to see things in color. Truly one of the many great gifts our Heavenly Father has given us...color!
Your rug is great!

I loved this, Susan. What a perfect pleasure ... to see color, to see at all. I have a dear friend who is losing her eyesight and since learning this, I've been even more aware of the blessing of seeing.

I wonder at times if God didn't give us the gift of colors - you know what I mean - for us to enjoy. Love your colors Susan. sandie

Love the rug and the chick!

I'm grateful for the gift of sight. I can't imagine not being able to read, see the faces of my loved ones, or enjoy God's creation.

Oh ladies your stories reminded me of my Father in law(75) who at the moment has had knee surgery last year, but it didn't work out at all - has had his knee removed and now will never bend it or walk properly, which has then led to his hip going! again another operation, but in all of this his saying is "well better than being blind" he stays so positive and thinks he is doing ok!!! what a great attitude.
