Cabbage Rose Wreath

An eye-catching front door wreath for spring would be a nice way to welcome guests.

A store had a beauty, with fat pink cabbage roses, but the price tag was enough to blow one's socks off.

“I can make one like that,” flashed through my mind.

So it was off to a big discount store for several huge pink and cream colored roses, bigger than the palm of one’s hand. a thick roll of silky pink ribbon also came home.

Back at the “ranch,” an ugly wreath from the attic was dismangled. Its old flowers and leaves went into the trash.

Stripped bare, the skeleton wreath made a perfect backdrop for the roses. Using a hot glue gun, the roses were attached to the wreath.

An artistic sister, at my request, made a stunning bow with long streamers that sway gently in the wind.

The spring wreath is now in its second year of welcoming guests!

Susan - that is lovely - what a great idea and it goes perfect with your black door. You know the right people with the right experience!

I need to make another wreath --- but yes, I've made wreaths and enjoyed the process. I've made pine cone wreaths, lavender wreaths, and ones with silk flowers. I also "redid" a beautiful, large wreath made from wheat stalks. Fun, fun! Your wreath is beautiful!!!

It is beautiful! As pretty as any I have seen in any store! I have an idea for a wreath over my headboard but finding time is my obstacle right now.

I have made wreaths for my home's front door! Christmas, Halloween and as of late, a Lent one (which was actually a cross, not a round wreath per se, but it was hung on the front door anyways). I've been planning to make a "neutral" one for that time of year when nothing really happens. Will share it when the idea is done! Yours is lovely!, very delicate and girly. Very beautiful. Good job!
have a lovely day!

KNOCK KNOCK.....K N O C K....!!!
SUSAN? ARE YOU HOME?

I love your door, and if I lived nearby I might actually come a' knockin'!

have yourself a great day...I'm going out for another bike ride...went to get a few groceries with my bike this morning, and forgot to get eggs. Now that my kids are too old to sit in the bike caddy, I use it as a grocery carrier...instead of taking the car! Burn's more, right!!!!

ciao bella!

It's crazy what they want to charge for such thing. Good for you making your own very pretty welcoming wreath. I took a pretty green and gold ribbon off a box from some bakery - it has the name of the shop on it, but the ribbon is so pretty so I just wrapped it around a small wreath and hung it on the front door. Works for me! :) Happy day to you. Tammy
