Amber Glass

Today, we are joining Susan's Metamorphosis Monday at her blog Between Naps on the Porch

A very dear friend of mine got me enthusiastic about decorating with different colored glass.

For some months of the year, she has amythyst colored glass all over the place. Then, it's packed away and out comes red glass. That's usually for the holidays, mixed with green, and then the red lasts through Valentine's Day.

Well, come fall, my dear friend always decorates with amber colored glass. This was never a favorite of mine but now I love it. It reminds me of molten gold, rich and brilliant in the sun.

At the end of each summer, I bring the amber glass down from the attic and put it on all the kitchen windowsills.

Almost all of the pieces in this glass collection came from thrift stores, yard sales, and flea markets.

It's so pretty when the sun shines through each piece. It's very reminiscent of fall leaves in the sunshine.

Best of all, I can leave it up until November. After Thanksgiving, it'll get packed away and red and green glass will come out. My beloved friend taught me well.

But for now, amber glass brightens up the kitchen, even on rainy days.

DO YOU LIKE AMBER COLORED GLASS?

I love amber colored glass. It is pretty easy to find in the thrifts and not that expensive. I just brought up a box of amber glass from the basement and will start using it to decorate this week. You have some lovely pieces and I see a few that I have also. Wonderful display and you have me ready to start doing some fall decorating! hugs, Linda

Your Amber glass is so pretty! I had two pieces and gifted them to my girlfriend when we downsized a few months ago. I love your idea to change the glass depending on the season.

I love all sorts of colored glass. I think my mom had a set of cranberry glass at some point when I was growing up. My memories are rather scattered with all things from the past. :/ It's nice to change things up for the seasons and the holidays. No sort of glass would stay clean in the environment I live in. Hope your day is great. Best wishes, Tammy

I like amber glass - especially the way your pictures look - you must have just the right spot to take pictures where I haven't discovered mine yet. Love your blue, green, and cranberry glass too! Very pretty. sandie

I love this amber glass! If I were to collect any, I think this would be the color I would choose. I prefer earth tones, so I am drawn to these. They are lovely. Thanks so much for sharing them. :)
Have a wonderful week,
Karen

Unfortunately I can't have too much glass displayed. I live in earthquake country and we are due for a BIG ONE. I love amber though...saw lots of it when I went to Poland.
