Mirror, Mirror On The Wall...

Most people see mirrors every day of their lives.

One of the funniest lines I ever heard was "Mirror, mirror, on the wall. I am my mother, after all."

It's hilarious how, as the years pass, I really do find myself becoming like my late Mom. She almost never left the house without having to go back in to check the stove. She always feared she left a burner on. Of course, she never did.

Well, wouldn't you know it, yesterday I got half-way to my destination, turned the car around, and went back home. Why? To go in and check the stove. It was all turned off.  Mummy was probably having a good laugh in the other realm of life.

"Mirror, mirror, on the wall..."

In the whirlwind of life, one thing is certain.  Our lives reflect what we put into them, just like mirrors. If the day begins with gratitude for the night that just past, as well as hope for the day ahead, that's a good start.

Most days after thanking God for a new day of life,  I make the determination the day is going to be good.  Guess what?  Most days truly do end up being pretty good.

Some mirrors are ornate and beautiful with gorgeous frames and beveled edges. Others are small and simple.  That's very much like the days of our lives. Some are really happy and filled with so many good things. Others are less pleasant but still okay.

(This hallway mirror can be found in the mansion of the late writer, Edith Wharton.)

Next time you look into a mirror, really look into your own eyes and tell yourself what a great person you are because, guess what?   You are!

Determine that you will make the most of each moment you have today.

"Be" rather than "do."

Like a newly cleaned mirror, let your light shine in the world, reflecting peace, goodness, and happiness.

DO YOU HAVE A LOT OF MIRRORS IN YOUR HOUSE?

Lovely post, and the person in the mirror is the only one who you cannot hide from.

I think my daughter is becoming ME ..her Mother..ha ha. I am besides a mirrored door all day at work. I hardly ever look in it...At home I only have mirrors in the bedroom and bathrooms.
Being like your Mother isn't bad at all is it?

Lovely post, Susan! I like the analogy between life, mirrors. The only time I look in the mirror is when I put on my makeup in the morning. Other than that, I usually forget there are any around. Maybe I should check myself out more often. Ha! Hope your day is great. Best wishes, Tammy

It worked!

And I just told you today how positive you are - is that weird or what.

And i too am getting more and more like my mom.

AND I agree with positive self talk - maybe not 100% - but you can change a lot of things.

love, sandie
