Away from Traditional Colors at Christmastime

Some people love to stick with traditional red and green colors at Christmas time.

In our house, the tree is usually done in gold and white with touches of pink.

Recently, however, I saw silver, a kind of turquoise, and  white used in decorating and it was quite beautiful. The photos in this post all came from inside the Oxford Hotel in Denver, Colorado.

The decorations hanging from the ceiling were quite breathtaking.

It's the oldest hotel in that unique and vibrant city.  The Oxford is very elegant.

Turquoise, silver. and white go so beautifully together, don't you think?

There was even a large container of orange water on a counter.

It's a refreshing thing to drink and I think I'll keep some in a pitcher in  the refrigerator all through the holiday season.

Although we didn't stay there,  I was able to go into the lobby and snap a ton of photos.  Many of them I'm going to share in near future posts.  It was so beautiful and I truly want to share it with you, my dear readers.

DO YOU LIKE THE COLOR COMBINATION SHOWN IN TODAY'S PHOTOS?

Beautiful! I always like to start decorating with silver and white. My kitchen is turquoise-chairs, plates and other thing. I also have muted orange counter tops....all 70's. So.....I would love to change it. I do, however like turquoise and brown together.

The oranges in the water looks so healthy and refreshing - good idea - I am going to do that too.

Yes, I love all the colors in your post today - the top photo - that is the color of my bedroom - but I don't know what color that is called.

Beautiful hotel in Denver.

Love, sandie

Yes, Susan, these colors are beautiful. I used all golds one year for Christmas..and I love white. But usually I hang close to red and greens!

Yes, I love the color combination shown in today's post. I would love to change up my Christmas color scheme but it will have to wait until my kids are out of school.

blue is my favorite color and I get very excited when we are out driving and I see blue Christmas lights. My friend used to decorate in pink and blue, and it looked gorgeous.

I love all shades of blue so this is right up my alley. Much more so than bright red and green. Hope your day is great. Tammy

I love those colors together. I even did Christmas cards in those colors one year.

So glad that you had a wonderful trip!

Susan, I don't know you but your blog came up when I Googled "Oxford Hotel Denver Christmas 2011". My husband and I were married at the Oxford last year on December 17th. It was beautiful, the Christmas colors of the hotel were red and gold. Our wedding colors were blue and silver! Dang it!!!! Missed it by a year. Isn't it stunning, though?
